Yoru lore
Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, Kiritani Ryo, also known as 桐谷 諒 in Japanese, is a man driven by his quest to unveil the mysteries of his ancestral lineage and an ancient order of samurai. His relentless pursuit has repeatedly brought him to the Kingdom's S22 container port. During his initial visit, he infiltrated the facility and pilfered a mask from a set of samurai armor, granting him the extraordinary ability to peer into another dimension. Subsequently, Kiritani was enlisted by the VALORANT Protocol, becoming its fifteenth agent known as "Yoru." Shortly after joining, he was assigned to return to S22 to thwart the efforts of hostiles from Omega Earth, preventing a potential spike detonation.
Yet, Yoru's fascination with S22 remained undiminished, compelling him to revisit the location despite his other Protocol missions and contrary to the advice of his superiors. His tireless research yielded fresh insights into radianite and the alternate dimension accessible through his unique powers. As he ventured deeper into the ship, he stumbled into a space suffused with the sensation of time travel, bridging the gap between "now and then." Within this enigmatic realm, he heard the beckoning voice of a woman, one he believed he knew. However, before he could respond, the rift abruptly sealed shut.
How to Play Yoru: Tips and Strategies
If you're looking to up your game as Yoru in VALORANT, you've come to the right place. Yoru, the enigmatic Duelist Agent, possesses some unique abilities that can be a game-changer if used effectively. Let's dive into some essential tips and strategies for mastering Yoru.
Gatecrash for Tactical Teleportation
Yoru's Gatecrash ability is your ticket to strategic teleportation. This power allows Yoru to move behind enemy lines or escape dangerous situations swiftly. To make the most of Gatecrash, you need to keep a keen eye on the map and the whereabouts of your opponents.
Scouting and Diversion on Attack
As an attacker, your mission is to scout the map and identify areas where defenders are not holding their ground. Infiltrating these weak points can create a diversion that forces the enemy team to split their attention. This boosts your chances of success and gives your team more room to execute their strategies effectively.
Utilizing Blindside Flashes
Yoru's Blindside flashes are a powerful asset on the defensive end. These flashes can come in clutch during crucial moments like retaking a site or stopping the enemy's site execution.
Combining Gatecrash and Blindside
Yoru isn't your typical frontline attacker. Consider a strategic combination of Gatecrash and Blindside to make the most of his abilities. Here's how: throw your Gatecrash to a location you want to teleport to when your team enters a site. As the Gatecrash reaches the destination, throw your Blindside to that area and teleport immediately after the flash goes off. This sequence blinds the enemies, opening up the opportunity for your team to take them down.
Strategic Gatecrash Placement
Your Gatecrash is a valuable asset that can help you escape tight spots. When you're flanking, be sure to leave your Gatecrash near your team, so you can quickly rejoin them if needed. While you won't always need this, it's an excellent quick exit option.
Flash Before Teleporting
An essential combo for Yoru players is flashing before teleporting into a site. This ensures a safer teleport to your Gatecrash location without getting instantly eliminated. Flash deeply to blind any enemies watching your Gatecrash, and after teleporting, follow up with another flash or use your decoy to create chaos.
Sound as a Deception Tool
Yoru's success relies on the art of deception. Use sound cues to your advantage. Whether it's fake teleporting, employing your decoy, or triggering your ultimate ability, these actions all produce sound cues that can confuse your enemies. Set up your skills strategically near enemies, and once confusion sets in, surprise them with gunshots or another flash.
