One of Zealium's primary esports assets is the leading Valorant stats and scores website - THESPIKE.GG. THESPIKE.GG is seeing large growth in the Japanese market, and we are excited to look for a content manger to oversee this growth.

About the Role

The Valorant Content Editor - Japan at Zealium Media will be responsible for developing the content strategy for all local Japanese content on THESPIKE.GG. Zealium have very high ambitions for the Japanese market and are looking for a passionate Valorant fan who can manage and create engaging content.

As with everything we build, we expect our esports asset to stand out from the competition and this role will be critical to innovating on how we merge esports data with world class copy and bespoke integrations, to create truly un-skippable content.

Responsibilities:

• Develop the Japanese content strategy with a focus on maximum outreach and user engagement
• Delivering quarterly, monthly and weekly content plans
• Creation of feature Valorant articles and news
• Commissioning and editing copy from industry contributors and freelance journalists.
• Building relationships with relevant publishers to create distribution and outreach opportunities for your content.
• Ensuring our Valorant news is amongst the first to release to market
• Ideation for innovative data visualisations which set our content apart from the competition
• Recommendation of features and product ideas to develop the functionality of the site
• Maximise distribution of our content by outreaching to relevant publishers and content networks.

Required Skills & Experience:

You should be an Esports Journalist / Senior Esports Reporter / Multimedia Esports Reporter / Journalist / Copywriter / Digital Journalist or similar with a CV that demonstrates the following.

• First and foremost you must be a huge Valorant fan! Your writing and editorial skills are very important, but unless you eat, breath and sleep Valorant then this role isn’t for you.
• Must have worked within SEO requirements
• Must be fluent in Japanese
• Must be fluent in English
• Ability to understand keyword research and use of keywords semantically within the articles written
• Ability to deliver vibrant, absorbing, clean copy to tight deadlines
• Ability to work self-sufficiently and generate fresh ideas for this web production role
• A keen eye for photographs and use the best images and videos to help a story drive traffic
• Must have solid news website experience
• Must work productively within a team environment
• Experience of working online and knowledge of SEO best practice, while understanding the role social media plays in selling and presenting content.
• You are an active and motivated person.
• Any experience with esports analysis is an advantage.
• You are curious, outgoing, and like to solve problems.

THESPIKE.GG is a website that provides coverage for professional VALORANT esports events organised by different Tournament Organisers and Riot Games. Launched in April 2020, THESPIKE.GG has been one of the leading websites that provide statistics on different professional players playing VALORANT, articles for roster moves and upcoming events and a community where users and fans can comment and engage together.

We are looking to expand our team and require freelance Writers/Journalists. Interested candidates should have in-depth knowledge in all aspects of esports within VALORANT and the game itself. The successful candidates will be required to write up articles including team news, tournaments, interviews, patch notes and any other VALORANT related news/events.

Skills required:

• Fluent in English writing
• Experience in writing esports content Work under tight deadlines to publish stories (include links to articles on your CV)
• Write approximately a minimum amount of 18 articles per month
• Proactive and willing to pitch both feature and evergreen content ideas
• Is able to work independently and manage deadlines
• VALORANT related research for articles
• Basic knowledge of SEO would be a plus
