Your vehicles need Power Cells to keep moving – no Power Cells, no drive. That’s why you need to learn how to get Power Cells in LEGO Fortnite.

Whether you’re zooming around in a Speeder or hauling stuff with a Hauler, these bad boys are essential. But how do you get them, and why are they so important? Let's take a look.

What are LEGO Fortnite Power Cells and why are they important?

Power Cells are the energy source your LEGO Fortnite vehicles rely on to operate. Without them, your Speeder, Offroader, or Hauler will be nothing more than stationary, albeit stylish, decorations.

Smaller vehicles, like the agile four-wheeler Speeder, need just one Power Cell for a full charge. The heavy-duty Hauler, on the other hand, demands four Power Cells and will lose speed as its energy depletes.

Where do you get power cells in LEGO Fortnite?

In LEGO Fortnite, you don't find power cells as loot or pickups—instead, you need to craft them.

How to get power cells in LEGO Fortnite

To get Power Cells in LEGO Fortnite, you need to craft them using a series of steps that involve gathering materials and constructing specific buildings:

  1. Build a Compost Bin.
  2. Create Biomass (x50).
  3. Build a Metal Smelter.
  4. Create Glass (x6).
  5. Craft a Power Cell.

Build a Compost Bin

The first step in making Power Cells is to build a compost bin to produce biomass, one of the main ingredients.

  • Materials needed:
    • Plank x5: Chop trees or dismantle wooden structures to collect.
    • Soil x2: Dig up grassy or forested areas.
    • Sand x1: Found in the desert biome.
    • Fertilizer x3: Obtained from composting organic waste or looted from village gardens.

The Compost Bin converts organic material into Biomass.

Create Biomass (x50)

Once the Compost Bin is ready, you can start producing Biomass. Throw organic materials such as food scraps, seeds, and monster drops into the Compost Bin. Wait until you have 50 units of Biomass.

Build a Metal Smelter

To produce Glass, which is essential for crafting Power Cells, you’ll need a Metal Smelter.

  • Materials needed:
    • Flexwood x15: Harvest from special trees in forest biomes.
    • Obsidian x15: Mined from rocky or cave areas.
    • Cut Amber x10: Collected from specific tree types or found as rare drops in forested areas.
  • Requirement: Your village needs to be at Level 9 to unlock the Metal Smelter blueprint.

The Metal Smelter is used to turn Sand into Glass.

Create Glass (x6)

With the Metal Smelter set up, start producing Glass. Get a Shovel to gather Sand from the desert biome. Place the Sand in the Metal Smelter to make 6 pieces of Glass. You can also find Glass by looting bandit camps.

  • Ingredients needed:
    • Biomass x50
    • Glass x6

Do power cells run out in Lego Fortnite?

Yes, Power Cells do run out in LEGO Fortnite. When you use a Power Cell to power a vehicle, it provides energy for a limited time or distance. Once the Power Cell is depleted, you'll need to replace it to keep your vehicle running. Vehicles that require more Power Cells, like the big truck Hauler, will start to slow down as their energy reserves decrease when one or more cells run out. Smaller vehicles, such as the four-wheeler Speeder, need only one Power Cell, which also needs replacing when it runs out.
