VALORANT console playtest to start soon
VALORANT has captivated the PC gaming community for the past three years, effortlessly blending the familiar FPS format with dynamic characters boasting impactful utility kits. Its exceptional gameplay has garnered an immense following, attracting millions of devoted players. Furthermore, VALORANT has also solidified its position as an elite esports entity, hosting tournaments throughout the globe that showcase the unrivaled skills of top-tier teams and players within the industry. Despite its undeniable success, console players are deprived of the VALORANT experience on their preferred platforms.
Recent job posting hints at VALORANT console testing
Earlier this year, Anna Donlon, the Executive Producer of VALORANT, revealed in the Dev Diaries on Riot's YouTube channel that they were actively working on bringing the game to other platforms. However, progress in this area has been slower than anticipated, leading to a brief pause in updates regarding the console release. While an official release date for VALORANT on PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch has yet to be announced, there have been significant developments recently, notably with a job posting on the Riot Games career website titled "Associate Console Playtest Analyst – VALORANT"
The aforementioned job posting isn’t the first of its kind with "Game Design Manager, Console - VALORANT" and "Senior Game Designer, Console - VALORANT" also making headlines with their emergence. However, console players should rejoice on the most recent one as this particular job posting holds significance for console players as it indicates a focus on game testing, suggesting that the development of the console version has advanced to a stage where testing is required. This is an encouraging sign that the game has already been developed, even if it has not yet reached the level of polish required for a wide-scale release.
A console release of VALORANT would attract millions of console players, expanding the game's appeal and fostering a more inclusive gaming community. Cross-platform availability and esports competitions could further promote diversity. The console edition would benefit VALORANT's future by expanding its player base, appealing to console gamers, and capitalizing on the success of similar competitive shooters on consoles like Call of Duty, Overwatch, and Apex Legends.
So, when is VALORANT coming to consoles? The short answer is there’s no definite date thus far, but recent developments indicate progress in this direction, instilling hope for an eventual console release and subsequent cross-platform availability.
