New indestructible Cypher Trapwires bug hits VALORANT with Patch 10.0
Though patch 10.0 of VALORANT has only been out for a handful of days, it has already brought its share of issues with it. None quite like the latest bug discovery, however, which renders Cypher's Trapwires indestructible under specific circumstances.
Don't worry, though, as the bug can only be replicated on specific maps, and by specific agents, meaning it won't be too easy to abuse during your games on the new patch. Let's go ahead and take a look at exactly how this new bug works.
Cypher Trapwires bug on Fracture and Pearl
To start things off, the new bug will only be an issue on the Fracture and Pearl. All other maps in the game are entirely free from it. Moreover, only Trapwires placed on the orange Radianite boxes in these two maps can become unbreakable. Cypher trips placed anywhere else on the map will continue to work as intended, and that includes even the green Radianite boxes.
What's more, Trapwires placed on these orange boxes on Fracture and Pearl will need very precise placement in order for them to become indestructible. The bug only takes place for trips placed specifically on the gray sections of these boxes. If Cypher's Trapwires are placed on any other part of the box, then the bug simply will not be triggered.
As for the indestructible part, that comes with a caveat: only Sova's Shock Darts and Raze's Blast Packs are affected by this bug. Any other agent ability that would otherwise destroy Cypher's Trapwires will continue to do so no matter where these are placed, and that includes Sova's Hunter's Fury and Raze's Boombot and Showstopper.
Implications for the bug
Due to the specific nature of the circumstances required for it to unfold, we don't expect players to encounter the bug too often while playing on the new patch. It's certainly good to be aware of its existence all the same, however, especially if you plan on playing Sova or Raze on Fracture or Pearl. So, make sure to keep an eye out for those orange boxes if you're up against Cypher!
Perhaps the more important question to ask would be how long Riot Games might take to fix the issue. With the start of the 2025 VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Season fast approaching, we wouldn't want to have any potential compromises regarding the competitive integrity of any matches moving forward. The VCT 2025 - China Kickoff is set to start as early as January 11, meaning Riot will need to work fast if they would like to rid the competitive scene of this new bug altogether.
