Marved to replace TenZ in the Sentinels' starting lineup this week
He has notable coaching experience with Ghost Gaming that made a few headlines in VCT 2022. The competitive update released by Sentinels features a statement from Kaplan, the new head coach, regarding the direction he wants to the lead the team in. Furthermore, a more notable announcement from the video message was the arrival of Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen into the starting lineup for the following week as a substitute for Tyson "TenZ" Ngo.
Although regarded as one of the world's top players in 2022, Marved was unable to get a seat on a partnered team for the 2023 season. The 23-year-old assisted the OpTic lineup in winning the Masters Reykjavík before placing 2nd at VALORANT Champions 2022. He was brought onto the Sentinels roster following SicK’s suspension as a result of his reported misdemeanor on social media.
The decision behind this change was cited to be TenZ’s finger injury as well as contracting COVID. While his absence to the team will be noticeable, Marved has previously proven himself to be an asset and should be able to replicate some of the success against the back-to-back Brazilian opponents Sentinels will be facing this super week in VCT 2023 - Americas League. It is worth noting that this change is temporary and should only be for the upcoming week; however, Marved's performance in the matchups could dictate a different future with the team.
With this announcement, the roster is as follows:
