Hiko to lead 100 Thieves VALORANT division
After hosting the 100 Thieves Invitational tournament, it was clear that the organization wants to be a part of the VALORANT esports ecosystem in the near future. It was also just a matter of time till we get to know the squad or at least the first members that will represent the organization. A few days after the official global launch of VALORANT, we’ve got to know the first member of the squad.
Spencer “Hiko” Martin has been active on the VALORANT competitive scene from the very beginning of the closed beta. Hiko was invited to most of the show matches and tournaments hosted by the tier one organizations such as T1 or his current home, 100 Thieves. Martin was usually seen as a teammate of the current T1 line-up: Braxton “brax” Pierce, Keven “AZK” Larivière, and Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham. Hiko participated in Code Green Invitational with them, and a few other cups, for example, 100 Thieves Invitational, and ESPN Esports Invitational so many people were wondering if this squad will eventually join forces to create a fully professional team to compete in Riot Games’ newest FPS. Yesterday, when T1 announced the fifth member of its roster, it became clear that we won’t see Martin playing for that organization.
Hiko is a player that has been in the esports scene for nearly a decade. Starting as a Counter-Strike 1.6 player, he later moved into CS:GO and played for teams like compLexity Gaming, iBUYPOWER, Team Liquid, and most recently, Rogue. Hiko was also praised by the CS:GO legend Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev as both of them were teammates in the past. In an interview for HLTV.org, s1mple says: “I think my favourite (former teammate) was Hiko. He helped me understand a lot of things right from the very start of my professional career.”
As mentioned in the tweet released by 100 Thieves, Hiko will take on the role of team captain. He also confirmed it during his stream, so we can expect the new members of the North American squad to be soon announced as he is slowly building up the team. What do you think, who else will join this roster?
100 Thieves line-up currently consists of:
Spencer “Hiko” Martin
