If you are not familiar with a map in FPS games, you will have hard times trying to predict your opponents’ strategies or you wouldn’t expect them to come from certain places and get taken down. Since Abyss is a new map, you need to know all the callouts, structure and other details about this map. Luckily, we have all the information you need in this guide. Here is everything you need to know about the latest VALORANT map Abyss!
Details of the VALORANT map Abyss
This map is special because it has no outer walls. Players can fall off the map in certain areas, leading to an instant death. This design adds a new level of challenge and excitement to the game. Players must be very careful about where they stand and move. On the other hand, you can also use some of the VALORANT Agents that can teleport or jump to avoid the fall or make belly-dancing plays, like Jett or Omen.
In Abyss, certain places are only reachable by jumping over gaps where you could fall. The Danger and Secret spots are thin ledges on the edge of the map. Players use these spots as shortcuts by jumping across them. To reach the Catwalk in the middle of the map, players must jump over a gap from the Top area or the Library and then use an ascender.
The map also has three other ascenders. One ascender helps players move from A Site to A Tower. Another moves players from B Main to Mid Bend. The last one is in the Attacker Spawn area.
The entrances to the Vent area have doors that can take damage. These doors have 120 HP. They change color from blue to yellow to red as they get more damaged. Once players break these doors, they stay open for the rest of the game round.
Before it was fully revealed, the map Abyss was hinted at in the game’s Episode 08: DEFIANCE: Act 3 splash screen. The name was also mentioned in an article about VALORANT’s console beta on PlayStation’s website before it was fully introduced at Masters Shanghai.
