If you want an ADC in League of Legends that can solo carry a game, all whilst keeping herself safe, Caitlyn is arguably the best in that role in the game.

Unlike other ADCs, Caitlyn prefers to play team fights traditionally, standing behind her tanks, and using her insane range to one shot enemies - especially in the late game.

If this sounds like your kind of playstyle, Caitlyn is the perfect champion for you to pick up, and considering she is always in the meta you can't go wrong with the Arcane TV star!

Caitlyn’s abilities in League of Legends

Passive: Headshot

Everytime Caitlyn basic attacks, she generates a stack of ‘Count’. Once she reaches five stacks her next auto attack will become a Headshot. These stacks are collected twice for every auto attack she uses when she's in a brush, meaning her next shot that will be a Headshot activates at four stack instead

Caitlyn's headshot is an uncancellable wind up and deals up to 120% of her AD damage with an additional 190% chance and damage.

Because Caitlyn can fire more than one Headshot at a time, when enemies step in her W, Yordle Snap Trap, or are hit by her E, 90 Caliber Net, she gets a free Headshot with increased range that doesn't consume her ‘Count’ stacks.

Caitlyn fires a shot in a straight line that does damage to any enemies along its path that it passes through of up to 210 physical damage plus 205% of Caitlyn's AD. Any enemies that are hit after the first are only damaged by 50%, unless they have recently stepped on Caitlyn's W, Yordle Snap Trap.

W: Yordle Snap Trap

After a short delay, Caitlyn places down an untargetable trap which lasts for up to 50 seconds, as well as granting her sight of the area where she placed it.

The next enemy that walks in the trap is rooted for one and a half seconds and revealed for three seconds, and then becomes targetable by Caitlyn's Passive, Headshot. This damage is increased to 220 AD damage, plus 80% of Caitlyn’s bonus AD, but the target can no longer walk in another trap for the next three seconds.

Caitlyn can also stack five of these at max rank, meaning she can completely block off a chokepoint or entryway!

E: 90 Caliber Net

Caitlyn fires a net and launches herself backwards, when the net hits an enemy champion it does 280 Magic Damage at max rank plus 80% of Caitlyn's AP. It also slows them by 50% for one second.

When the net hits an enemy, Caitlyn gets free Headshot from her Passive onto the target that she hits, and whilst dashing backwards you can use any of the rest of her abilities - meaning that an E,Q combo is deadly!

R: Ace in the Hole

Caitlyn stand still unlocks onto a target enemy champion within range. This channel lasts for one second and reveals them and Caitlyn herself, but it can be cancelled. If cancelled, Ace in the Hole goes on a five second cooldown before she can use it again.

After the channel is complete, Caitlyn fires a giant bullet at the target that deals Physical Damage to the first enemy champion it hits, which is increased by up to 50% based on her Critical Strike Chance.

This damage is up to 700 at max rank plus 170% of Caitlyn’s bonus AD.

When was Caitlyn released in League of Legends?

Caitlyn was released well over a decade ago and the beginning of 2011  To be exact, this was on January 4, 2011, which was in Patch 1.0.0.108.

A fun fact about this patch, is that it was the patch that Ionian Boots of Lucidity, Zhonya’s Hourglass, and Rabadon’s Deathcap were introduced into the game, and since then they've become three of the most staple items in whole of League of Legends.

We know a lot about Caitlyn since the release of Arcane where she was one of the hit stars in the TV show! A lot of the show spends time going into the lore of the champions, and Caitlyn is no exception.

One of the facts that we learn was that Caitlyn grew up in Piltover and has been there ever since being born, and we know this because of her unease traveling outside of it to Zaun in Arcane.

Hopefully this guide helped you find your new ADC main, but if not no worries we have a load of other champion guides for you to check out, and below we've listed a few guides for champions that Caitlyn shares the screen with in Arcane!

Hi, my name is Eddie, I am a full-time writer and short-form video editor, with a degree in Esports! My main games are VALORANT and League of Legends, so you could say that I am at the beck and call of Riot Games! I have worked previously for a few different websites, doing various roles, such as writing, editing, and even voiceovers, but here at THESPIKE, I am an out-and-out article writer, so I can really get as much content out as I can! I graduated with my Esports degree with a 2:1, and a desire to keep going, so this was a perfect step for me, but I still can't get enough of League of Legends when I'm free.
