Jax is the best duelist in the whole of Runeterra, and that translates perfectly to his Champion kit in game and on the Rift. He is incredible at 1v1s, 2v1s, and even 3v1s. If you want to split push, go right ahead, and if you want to team fight, feel free to land a five man stun!

So whether you have seen Jax being picked up at Worlds all the time, or whether you just love the look of the Jax visual update, he is an easy champion to smurf on, as long as you know everything you need to know about the Grandmaster.

Jax’s abilities in League of Legends

Passive: Relentless Assault

Whenever Jax auto attacks anything he wil lgenerate a stack of Relentless Assault for 2.5 seconds. This stacks up to 8 times, and the stacks run out one by one if not kept up.

The stacks give Jax between 3.5% and 11.% bonus attack speed for evey stack he has, which hits a maximum of 28% to 88% bonus attack speed, based on his level.

The Jax visual update actually came with a small gameplay addition, which allows him to fish in the river when out of combat with enemy champions for 10 seconds. He will catch a fish occasionally, which gives him 1 gold and 1 ability power for 5 seconds.

There is also a 5% chance to catch a rare fish, rewarding Jax with 10 gold and 10 ability power for 5 seconds.

Q: Leap Strike

This is arguable one of the simplest abilities in League of Legends. All Jax does with this ability is jump to a target with a point and a click.

If Jax jumps to an enemy, whether it be minion or champion, Jax deals physical damage up to 225 at max level, plus 100% of his bonus AD. He can also cast any of his other abilities during the jump.

W: Empower

Jax will empower his next auto attack or Leap Strike Q, which can be used for 10 seconds after activating Empower. This deals up to 190 bonus magic damage at max rank, as well as 60% of Jax’s AP.

This also gives Jax an extra 50 attack range, and it also acts as an auto attack reset, so with Jax you can auto, W, auto for a quick trade combination!

E: Counter Strike

Jax E

Jax will enter a state of Evasion for 2 seconds, which allows him to dodge every incoming attack that is not from a tower. He also takes 25% reduced damage from champion AOE abilities.

Jax presses E once to activate the dodge, but he can also reactivate E after 1 second to cast it early.

When he either casts it early, or the Counter Strike ends after 2 seconds, he will stun any enemies within the range for 1 second, and the damage done by this stun is increased by 20% for every attack he dodges, which stacks up to 100%.

This does AP damage of up to 175 with an additional 4% of the targets maximum HP and 70% of his own AP.

R: Grandmaster-At-Arms

The passive of Jax’s ultimate ability means that once this ability is levelled, his basic attacks generate a stack of Grandmaster-At-Arms for 2.5 seconds. This stacks up to a maximum of 2 times, and when Jax reaches two stacks, this causes his next auto attack to deal bonus magic damage, up to 160 plus 60% of his AP.

Jax’s ultimate also has an active, which has him swing his lantern around himself and deals magic damage to enemies. This is 350 magic damage at max rank, plus 60% of Jax’s AP.

If he hits an enemy champion with this, he gains bonus armor for every champion hit after the first one, and magic resist which is equal to 60% of the bonus armor, as well as increasing the size of his model by 10% for 8 seconds.

The bonus armor he gets for hitting one champion is 15 to 65 based on level, with 40% of his bonus AD added on top. The bonus armor he gets for every new champion hit is between 15 and 25 for each enemy champion, as well as an extra 10% of his AD as well.

When was Jax released in League of Legends?

Jax has been with us fighting on the Rift since the early days, in fact he joined the Rift alongside other champions we have known and loved for the past 14 years in Alpha Week 2, which was in the early days of 2009.

Jax received a visual update to his champion model and abilities in Patch 13.20, 14 years after he was firsted added into League of Legends, to give him an up to date and fresh look on the Rift.

Where is Jax from in League of Legends?

Jax is from Icathia in Shurima. This was an ancient place, which no longer exists in the modern day and age of Runeterra. This should tell you something about Jax’s age!

Something more interesting than where Jax is from in his lore, is that we don’t actually know where Jax currently is in Runeterra, so hopefully we find out some more with future champion releases.

Jax’s Age in League of Legends

Considering Jax is from an ancient Shuriman province, you can probably gather that he is pretty old. Well, Jax was born between roughly 3400 BN and 2530 BN.

This makes Jax an old man at between 3528 years of age and 4398 years of age! The possible Sand-Troll is getting on a bit, but this doesn’t make him any more deadly.

Jax is one of the best duelists in League of Legends, and is one of the oldest characters too, but if he isn’t up your street, maybe we have a champion guide for you for a champion that fits you perfectly! Here are just a few to get you started.

Hi, my name is Eddie, I am a full-time writer and short-form video editor, with a degree in Esports! My main games are VALORANT and League of Legends, so you could say that I am at the beck and call of Riot Games! I have worked previously for a few different websites, doing various roles, such as writing, editing, and even voiceovers, but here at THESPIKE, I am an out-and-out article writer, so I can really get as much content out as I can! I graduated with my Esports degree with a 2:1, and a desire to keep going, so this was a perfect step for me, but I still can't get enough of League of Legends when I'm free.
