VCT 2022 - APAC Challengers Viewers Guide

Stage 1 Challenger events have already begun in several regions around the world; although, APAC is lagging behind at the moment, proceedings for VCT 2022 - APAC Challengers are scheduled to commence in almost a week from today. Here's everything you need to know about the event.

Qualified Teams:

The APAC Playoffs will feature 20 of the region's best teams to fight for two spots at VCT 2022 - Stage 1 - Masters Reykjavík in Iceland next month. Each of these teams earned a spot at the event through performances in local tournaments, and their starting point in the Challenger tournaments (Play-in or Group Stages) was decided by their placement in the qualifying events. The 20 qualified teams are as follows:

Prize Pool, Format & Schedule:

If the stakes weren’t already high with two guaranteed spots at the Stage 1 Masters event, the tournament also has a magnanimous prize pool worth 150,000 USD. As for its format, the tournament has been divided into three stages: Play-Ins, Group Stage and Knockouts. Below is a brief outline of each stage as well as the dates they will span over.

Play-ins: March 10 - 13

A total of 8 teams will be divided into groups of 4, and will be made to compete in GSL format. Only 4 successful teams will be allowed to proceed to the next stage completing the remaining spot in each group. Teams for the play-in were selected by placements in local tournament and are as follows:

Group A:

Group B:

Group Stages: March 16 - 21

The 4 teams from Play In stage will join the other twelve teams to form 4 groups of four teams each in a double elimination format. From the 16 teams, only 8 will proceed to the Knockout stage. The groups are as follows:

Group B:

Australia Bonkers Singapore Paper Rex Indonesia BOY WITH LOVE

Group C:

Thailand XERXIA Philippines NAOS Esports Singapore BLEED Esports

Knockout Stages: March 24 - 27

Similar to preceeding stages, the double elimination format will continue through the Knockout stages as well but the stakes will be greater with only the grand final participants being granted a spot at the Stage 1 Masters event.

All matches will be broadcasted from 11:00 - 22:00 GMT + 8 on local Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as VeraEsports the official Esports platform and content hub for all VCT Challengers APAC streams.
