Valorant India Invitational and the advent of esports and electronic music
When it comes to esports, people rarely consider the other sectors of the gaming industry, and many more forget that music plays a huge part in the industry. I don't just mean the awesome OSTs and scores that push you through your favorite blood-burning, adrenaline-churning missions or the music used to deliver impactful plot points and moments that could have you cheering one moment and be brought to tears the next. Music in the esports industry goes far beyond these.
We've seen a few examples of music and video games coming together, from the development of rhythm games like Guitar Hero to the implementation of live concert events in games like Fortnite, which shows gaming and music have continued to evolve together.
The same goes for esports, albeit at a much slower implementation rate, with some performances happening between games and some even opening major esports events. Now, a certain Dubai-based esports organization, Galaxy Racer and an Asian electronic music festival, Sunburn, are partnering to shake things up.
Galaxy Racer has a history involving music and just this year cut a deal with EMPIRE record label to create an independent record label GXR Records. So it's no surprise they would embark on this venture, which marks Sunburn's first dive into esports. The deal has both parties hosting the VCT 2022 OFF SEASON - Valorant India Invitational, meaning that the festival will be the official venue for the event, with teams like Paper Rex, Team Secret and Rex Regum Qeon competing for a share of the $100,000 cash prize.
Additionally, the Valorant India Invitational will also have a live music performance by DJ Snake. The event will be hosted from the 18th of November till the 20th of November at the GMR Arena in Hyderabad.
