Renegades sign the Big Frames lineup
North American organization Renegades got their start in League of Legends, but after blowing up in a wave of poaching allegations in 2016, which led to the owner, Chris Badawi, being permanently banned from any Riot-sanctioned event and the co-owner, Christopher “MonteChristo” Mykles, being disgraced from LoL, the organization was bought by a new owner, NBA player Jonas Jerebko. Since then, Renegades have slowly been building themselves into a competitive org. They now field rosters in many games, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rocket League, and SMITE. Today, they announced their new VALORANT team.
Renegades have signed the entire lineup of amateur squad Big Frames: James “Nurfed” McFadden, Chuck “Cp2” Proud, Ryan “Winsum” Johns, Devon “randyySavage” Bréard, and Stephen “Berghy” Bergh. Most of the players originally come from the depths of North American CS:GO, where they’ve bounced around ESEA MDL and even lower tier tournaments. Berghy has not competed in a notable event since 2017.
In VALORANT, Big Frames were a fantastic squad during the very early days. They participated in many weekly events in addition to qualifiers, winning or finishing as runners-up in most of them. These weeklies include Fragadelphia, Nerd Street Gamers, and Fight Night Arena events. However, as of late, Big Frames’ performance has dropped. They haven’t participated in many events for a while, and in the one they did qualify for, Trovo Challenge - North America, they were knocked out in the first round.
The wording of Renegades’ tweet is also interesting - “our first Renegades competitive VALORANT team.” Perhaps we could see a second roster from the organization in the near future?
Some analysts are already touting Renegades as a tier 1 organization, and expecting play to match that. While this may be a bit of a stretch, there’s no doubt they have potential - Big Frames proved that time and time again.
Renegades' roster is:
James "Nurfed" McFadden Chuck "Cp2" Proud Ryan "Winsum" Johns Devon "randyySavage" Bréard Stephen "Berghy" Bergh
