With the VALORANT rostermania now in sixth gear, Paper Rex and Global Esports have announced their share of huge news in the Pacific region. PRX's walkout demon, Benedict "Benkai" Tan will join the Indian organization Global Esports, while PRX will see Cahya "Monyet" Nugraha join their side.

Paper Rex sign Monyet

At just 18, Monyet will become the team's youngest player, despite young talent Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto only being 19 years old. The move will see Monyet take Wang "Jinggg" Jing Jie's seat on the team as he is poised to undergo military service for the next two years.

Global Esports have officially said their goodbyes to Monyet on September 15.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Cahya to the Paper Rex family! He's a young, hungry player who has impressively demonstrated his versatility, playing a wide range of agents in the past. We believe that his outstanding debut season in VCT Pacific was just the beginning, and that the best is yet to come.” - Paper Rex CGO Harley "dsn" Örvall

Despite mainly playing the role of Controller whilst on Global Esports, Monyet has been a pure Duelist, maining mostly Jett (and some Raze) for the bulk of his time before joining GE. Surely, with Jinggg's departure, Monyet will be able to switch back to the flashy Duelist role on Paper Rex.

With the signing, Paper Rex are now:

  • Aaron "mindfreak" Leonhart
  • Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto
  • Khalish "d4v41" Rusyaidee
  • Ilya "something" Petrov
  • Cahya "Monyet" Nugraha
  • Alex "alecks" Salle (coach)

Benkai set to join Global Esports

Regarding former Paper Rex in-game leader, Benkai's future at PRX was in doubt following the team's acquisition of something and him hitting the bench not long afterwards.

Despite that, the 26-year-old was the face of the team. Embodying a kind and calming presence, paired with creative LAN walkouts, Benkai was truly one of the faces of VALORANT esports.

After 2.5 years with the Singapore-based organization, Benkai will be departing to join Global Esports. With the team in need of an experienced and talented IGL, Benkai may be one of the best signings given they make the right moves for the other seats on the team.
