Lazarus launch VALORANT division

Lazarus, an organization that hails from Canada, has recently announced that they would be investing in VALORANT as they bring on a roster for the Riot Games title. Founded in 2010, Lazarus has been a growing part of the esports scene in Canada as the first established company. With teams dedicated to Apex Legends, CS:GO, League of Legends, and many more, VALORANT seems to be the next logical move in the organization’s continual growth.

“We chose this particular roster because we frankly wanted to break the pattern of other teams (signing primarily top tier CS:GO and Overwatch players). We also feel that this team is extremely dedicated to their training and motivated to improve in a way that is unlike most teams we have seen in the game thus far,” explains General Manager of Lazarus, Kyle “ZZXQ” Vognsen to THESPIKE.GG.

The team will have Jonathan “CustomAbilities" Ledford lead the way as team captain. Following him we have Yovanny "Yovii" Nunez, William “wiLLzki” Lemons, and Hasan "BlackheartGMG" Hammad. Finally, the last spot on the starting roster goes to Antonio "Truthizwizdom" Brothers. Brothers was originally signed to Lazarus as a Crossfire player, but ended up becoming a key figure in the creation of this roster. All the players come from a variety of FPS titles, at the semi-professional and amateur level.

“My expectations from VALORANT in the esports scene is to grow in an environment where aspiring players, both new and old, can cultivate their skill and see their improvement showcased. A scene that flourishes off honing talent and allowing a spectacle for all to enjoy. A scene with multiple tiers that can allow people from all types of backgrounds to be able to capitalize on their drive to be successful,” the captain Jonathan “CustomAbilities" Ledford goes on to say.

Lazarus has taken a different approach when putting together this team, but as CustomAbilities says it, “our goal has always been to strive to be the best.” As they enter the VALORANT scene, we will have to wait and see if the gamble of a different approach will pay off in the long run.
