Ghost Gaming have announced today the departure of Danny "HUYNH" Huynh and Dajon "chase" Lopez. Through their Twitter statements, both players revealed they are now out of contract and free to join any team ahead of the next VCT season.

chase has been a part of the Atlanta-based organization since they signed the full Project ! lineup at the start of 2021 and his exit leaves Marki "NiSMO" Tayar as the last standing member from that squad. With the American, Ghost had middling results in the first half of the year, failing to make it through Challengers Open Qualifiers and their best placement being a 3rd-4th finish at NSG Summer Champs - Summer Champs - Open 8 in June.

Ghost Gaming went through a number of changes over the summer and former Gen.G Esports man HUYNH subsequently joined the lineup on trial in July. He made his debut at VCT 2021 - Stage 3 - North America - Challengers 1 - Open Qualifier, where the team went out 17th-32nd. There was a noticeable improvement in the team’s performance since the Canadian’s arrival and Ryan "ryann" Welsh’s switch to in-game leading, as they grabbed a win at Pittsburgh Knights Monthly Gauntlet 2021 - July: Campfire Chaos, runners-ups at NSG Summer Champs - Summer Champs - Open 12 and NSG 2022 Winter Championship - Online Open 5, and an impressive 5th-8th place at VCT 2021 - Stage 3 - North America - Challengers 2 - Open Qualifier where they narrowly missed out on qualification to Challengers 1 after a loss to FaZe Clan.

HUYNH had historically mained Jett during his time on Gen.G Esports but made the switch to Sova when he joined Ghost Gaming to make space for GianFranco "koalanoob" Potestio, who is an excellent Jett player. The Canadian’s performances were still solid, with a 1.13 K/D and 1.02 rating over the last three months, as well as the flexibility to occasionally play Viper and Sage.

chase, on the other hand, has gone through a variety of different roles through his year-long stint with Ghost Gaming. He initially was seen on duelists such as Phoenix and Raze, but transitioned into a largely sentinel role later on in the year, frequenting Cypher and Killjoy. His statistics have suffered as of late, the American only recording a 0.83 rating and 170 ACS in his last three months.

The future of chase and HUYNH is unclear for the time being, but knowing that many North American organizations are rebuilding their rosters this off-season and since both players are free agents, it should only be a matter of time before they find their next project.

Ghost Gaming are now:

Canada Marki "NiSMO" Tayar United States Ryan "ryann" Welsh Canada GianFranco "koalanoob" Potestio

United States Adam "kaplan" Kaplan (Head Coach)
