BOOM Esports win APAC LCQ to qualify for Champions
The first Last Chance Qualifier has come to an end after BOOM Esports’ dominance over Onic Esports in the VCT 2022 - APAC Last Chance Qualifier Grand Finals.
APAC Challengers 1
BOOM reached the VCT 2022 - APAC Challengers stage by winning the VCT 2022 - Indonesia - Stage 1 - Main Event trophy. They won both of their Group Stage games in style, without losing a single map but they got swept by XERXIA in the first round of the playoffs, still continued their way from the Lower Bracket. Before reaching XERXIA again in the Lower Bracket Semi-Finals, they took down South Built Esports and FULL SENSE but failed to get to the Lower Bracket Final. The journey ended for them after the result but on the other hand, BOOM took home 50 circuit points.
APAC Challengers 2
The Indonesian organization once again made it to the APAC scene, despite losing the Lower Bracket Final match to Alter Ego. They were the third team to represent Indonesia. This time, they joined the competition from the Play-ins and couldn’t win all their group stage games. First, they upset CERBERUS Esports in the opening match but lost to Made in Thailand. Winning the decider match against CERBERUS granted them a spot at the main event. BOOM made a bad start to the Group Stage as they got swept by Paper Rex but still managed to make their way out of the group thanks to their Lower Bracket performance. The Indonesian team first swept Oasis Gaming and then eliminated ORDER after a 3-game series. Just like the first APAC Challengers, this one also did not last long for the Indonesian team. First, they lost their fellows, Onic Esports, and got demoted to the Lower Bracket. BOOM faced XERXIA once again and the result did not change as the series ended in favor of the Thai team. BOOM gained 45 more points which put them up to 95 in total.
APAC Last Chance Qualifier
With 95 points, they were the third team at VCT 2022 - APAC Last Chance Qualifier. BLEED Esports and Onic Esports were the organizations with the highest points, 110 and 100 respectively. BOOM’s run started from the Upper Bracket Quarter Finals and they faced Griffin Esports to start things off in the tournament. After a very strong performance on Fracture, 13-1, BOOM won the series in three maps and moved on in the competition. It was time for revenge as they were going to play against Onic Esports, who had recently swept ORDER in the previous round. This time, BOOM showed no mercy and managed to pick up a 2-0 win over their strong opponent and reached the Upper Bracket Final. Bleed eSports were the final obstacle before the Grand Final. The first two maps of the competition ended with great competition as both teams won 13-11. BOOM made a difference in the last map, Haven, and won the series after a 13-7 win on the map. Fikri "Famouz" Zaki held a 1.21 rating throughout the series on agents like Chamber, Raze, and Sova. They waited for their opponent to be clear for the trophy and it was Onic Esports again. Onic came from the Lower Bracket after impressive wins against MiTH, Team Secret, and Bleed eSports. The Grand Final series started with BOOM’s great performance as they won the first two maps, 13-10 on Bind and 14-12 on Haven. Onic Esports were the winning side of Fracture after a very close competition, 13-11. However, BOOM did not let them force another map in the series and closed it out after four maps.
Other regions’ LCQs are still not over yet. All of the participants of VCT 2022 - Champions Istanbul will be clear with the end of the remaining tournaments.
