BLEED Esports, the newest member of the Pacific League, have announced the signing of Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker. After a year away from the highest competition, the American player will fly to Asia and compete for the Singapore-based team in the next season. Bleed will come up against the strongest teams in the region.

Bleed Esports had an impressive run in the 2022 season, and they once again proved that they are one of the best organizations in the region. After a successful run at VCT 2023 - Challengers Ascension: PACIFIC, the organization secured their place in the Pacific League and guaranteed to qualify for the league in the upcoming two years. Bleed already had a strong roster, but to spice things up against the best teams in the region, they made a couple of roster changes, with the last one being one of the biggest transfer news of the off-season. According to the latest announcement, the organization have come to an agreement with yay to play for them in the coming year.

yay has signed a contract with Bleed Esports

yay was considered the best player in the world in 2022, during his time at OpTic Gaming. He was unstoppable with Chamber in his hands, and with the help of his teammates, he even won an international trophy in Reykjavik. Later that year, OpTic reached the VALORANT Champions 2022 Grand Finals but lost 3-1 to LOUD, which marked the end of the road for the talented roster. After leaving OpTic, yay decided to join Cloud9, but that part of the story didn’t last long. He played for C9 in Sao Paulo, where C9 placed 9th-16th at VCT 2023 LOCK//IN. Yay and C9 parted ways after the tournament, which came as a surprise to many. He then joined Disguised but couldn’t find what he was looking for as the team failed to get a single win during VCT 2023 - Challengers League North America: Split 2.

Despite a disappointing year, yay is still a very valuable player, as he currently holds a 1.20 rating and a 1.31 K/D. In the past year, he had 17 Jett games, and he picked Chamber 11 times.

Bleed will have more announcements in the coming days. With yay’s arrival, here is the current Bleed Esports roster:

A former ESL teacher with a Master’s degree in English Studies that found his drive in esports. Merging a passion for the craft of writing with a never-ending need to out-aim others in the game of VALORANT and Counter-Strike.

Naim began his esports-writing and reporting journey at DailyEsports (now Upcomer), where he was a contributor for CS:GO. More and more enamored with esports, he quickly received a chance to attend IEM Katowice 2019 as press and managed to interview Cath, Lekr0, FalleN, and jkaem, his first dive into covering an event on-site.

With the release of VALORANT, Naim saw potential in Riot Games’ take on a 5v5 competitive shooter and joined Run It Back as a writer. After 3 months, he got promoted to a Managing Editor, managing a team of contributors and held regular brainstorming meetings to get content pumping for 3 years straight. In that time he attended Masters Berlin 2021, as well as VALORANT Champions 2022 as press on-site press.

Now, Naim is a Content Manager & Editor at THESPIKE. He keeps tabs on news, features, and evergreen content production, as well as contributing himself from time to time.
