VALORANT esports is thriving more than ever with entertaining matchups being played out on a weekly basis. Today, April 9, marked the faceoff between NRG and Sentinels. These teams were previously civil with no known narrative or drama till the Twitter feud between head coaches of both teams: Chet and Syyko. Following the conclusion of today’s matchup, it was Chet "Chet" Singh that got the last laugh and THESPIKE.GG was granted the opportunity to conduct an interview and break down his thoughts on the game, coming off a loss and more.

Chet reflects on the win against Sentinels

THESPIKE.GG: Congratulations on the win. What were the emotions running like immediately after the result became apparent?

Chet: Everyone was quite happy and relieved to be honest. We came into the matchup being down 0-1 and leaving 0-2 wouldn’t have been good for the team’s mental. So it felt good to win.

THESPIKE.GG: NRG started off well on Lotus on Offense, but allowed Sentinel to return the favor by not closing out well on Defense?

Chet: I mean, there was no VOD for how Sentinels would play Lotus and so we had to design set plays for ourselves and sort off work on the spot to counter strat. There are still things we can work on defense for sure and I tried to fix that during the map by calling a pause and while it wasn’t extremely effective, we ended up with a win.

THESPIKE.GG: The second map for this matchup was Icebox, which as you might be aware is leaving the map pool soon? What are your thoughts on this issue?

Chet: I mean, we did not choose Icebox because of its future elimination from the map pool. Icebox isn’t our best map, so I am not too concerned but it’s a map we were a decent on which is why we chose it to be our map pick and won.

THESPIKE.GG: Whose performance in the team stood out to you the most from a coach’s point of view?

Chet: My focus during the game is on the overall action going on the map, I don’t have the time to look at individual performances like that and I don’t really check the stats and in fact don’t even know who the top fragger was.

THESPIKE.GG: Although NRG secured the win, if you were to change something from today what would it be?

Chet: The Defense on Lotus needs a lot of improvement. Even though, we had a better showing today than against Lev last week, we still need to go back and look at the VOD to see where we are lacking and the gaps in our gameplay.

THESPIKE.GG: You play against mibr next week, how excited are you looking forward to that matchup?

Chet: I am good friends with the coach of mibr and I think that the team he is coaching is quite talented. They put up a strong fight against LOUD last week so I think that our matchup next week is going to be entertaining to say the least.
