Valorant to experience a gradual UI revamp
Ever since Valorant was released in the spring of 2020, it has undergone little to no changes on the UI front despite the countless updates to its mechanics and introduction of new Agents and Maps. However, it seems that the Developers have had new features brewing in the background and Patch 5.08 will give the game a minor do-over. Here are all the changes that are expected in this update.
Dedicated MVP screen:
Although players were made aware of their team’s performance following the end of a match, there was no way to celebrate the most impactful member, but the MVP screen plans to change that aspect.
Revamped lobby screen:
If you are on the Ranked grind and have queued up in countless matches, the lobby screen might have become a boring sight that you can’t wait to disappear so that you can engage in actual combat. However, with this update, the lobby screen will receive a vibrant and high-contrast makeup that fits better with an FPS game.
Pre-match loading screen:
Once you’re done selecting Agents, the game transitions you to a screen where you can view the opponent’s Agent composition. While that data itself is sufficient, the new UI will display each player’s banner and a dedicated VS text to essentially “emphasize the head-to-head feeling,” according to Max Smiley, Staff Engineer.
In their blog post, the developers mentioned that these updates will pave the way for the future of Valorant, including new features that are yet to be announced. They have also given users a heads-up to expect more updates and iterations that bring motion design and overarching visual polish throughout the game.
