VALORANT Region and Infrastructure Update
Today the Riot Games Dev team released some more information about the progression of the VALORANT closed beta based on the struggles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Anna “RiotSuperCakes” Donlon gave a brief summary that included a few major announcements for the game going into the next week.
The Executive Producer breaks down the struggles they have had trying to make sure VALORANT is in tip top shape for the official launch. Donlon then releases some massive news that will bring even more players to the already massive game. Donlon announces that “Beginning May 5th, we’ll be able to welcome South Korea and most of [Latin America] into the global VALORANT closed beta community!” This is huge for the game as for the most recent extent of closed beta, Latin America and South Korea were being held up by the global pandemic. It is not all good news though, as Mexico City will not be able to have servers up for now as Donlon states that “[Mexico City] is where we have had a majority of our infrastructure delays.” But she assures players that the team is trying their best to get servers up as fast as possible. Other regions are asked to wait a little longer by Donlon as to make sure that they can fully support their regions to the best of their ability.
Donlon goes on to talk about the other issues that players may be dealing with through the closed beta. Issues such as Agent voice over and latency issues are being worked on daily to make sure the game is pristine for players. The biggest reminder that needs to be said is that the game is still in closed beta. The issues that are being seen as well as reported are being worked on daily. Players experiencing said issues are encouraged to continue reporting them as those problems are being fixed. The VALORANT developer team has been nothing but transparent with the community, so we as the players should give the developers grace as they try their best to make the game perfect for us.
