TSM FTX finalize roster signing seven and gMd
Following the departure of Matthew "WARDELL" Yu and Aleko "LeviathanAG" Gabuniya, TSM has finally managed to find replacements in Johann "seven" Hernandez and Anthony "gMd" Guimond. In the off-season, TSM decided to bench Sean "bang" Bezerra, as well as James "hazed" Cobb, who were replaced by Corey "corey" Nigra and Daniel "Rossy" Abedrabbo. These changes were made in hopes of a long and successful run in the new VCT season. However, to their fans’ dismay, the roster couldn’t manage a better finish than 7th-8th place in either of the two Open Qualifiers, eliminating them from participation in the Challengers event and nullified their chances of earning a spot at VCT 2022 - Stage 1 - Masters Reykjavík.
Joining the team today is the 16-year-old Mexican, who spent the majority of his time in the competitive VALORANT scene on various unsigned rosters, before getting his big break as a substitute for 100 Thieves in September last year. He looked like a decent prospect as the team hoped to carry their momentum into the VCT 2021 - North America Last Chance Qualifier, but 100 Thieves struggled at the tournament and subsequently missed out on VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021. As a result, seven was let go in the off-season.
The talent he possessed did not go unnoticed as he was shortly signed by T1. Unfortunately, however, seven’s time with T1 has not gone as planned, missing out on NA Stage 1 Challengers thanks to consecutive early exits at both Stage 1 Open Qualifiers earlier this year. Despite his struggles, statistics show that he is a potent player with a 1.16 rating and 241 ACS throughout his career.
The other signee is none other than gMd, a former member of Gen.G Esports’s roster. He had been a part of the organization since it entered professional Valorant back in 2020. Since then, he has helped the team to a third place finish at VCT 2021 - Stage 1 - North America Masters, 5th-6th places at VCT 2021 NA Stage 3 Challengers 1 and 2, and a fourth place at VCT 2021 NA Stage 1 Challengers 3, amongst other achievements. He played his last event in a Gen.G jersey at Pittsburgh Knights Monthly Gauntlet 2022 - March, where the team finished 17th-32nd following a loss to Ghost Gaming.
The Canadian has played a variety of roles during his time with Gen.G, most frequently as a controller with Omen and Astra but has also flexed with Raze and Breach. Despite his versatility, he has maintained a solid level of individual play with a 1.08 rating and 212 ACS overall. The experience of gMd and the raw talent seven possesses can be extremely crucial for TSM to finally get their groove on in the upcoming stage of VCT 2022.
TSM FTX lineup going into VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 2 - Open Qualifier 1 consists of the following:
Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik Corey "corey" Nigra Daniel "Rossy" Abedrabbo Johann "seven" Hernandez Anthony "gMd" GuimondSoto (Assistant Coach) Preston "Juv3nile" Dornon (Head Coach) Austin "SmaK" Haggett (Team Manager)
