The Guard finalize roster for NA Challengers 2023
With the announcement of The Guard being invited to VCT 2023 - Challengers League North America - Split 1 , it was a mystery what their roster composition would look like considering the majority of the roster decided to step-back and look for other offers at the start of the off-season. The Guard finally broke silence and unveiled their revamped VALORANT roster which features the addition of Ian "tex" Botsch.
Taking into account that The Guard joined the VALORANT scene in full-effect starting with VALORANT Champions Tour 2022, their performance in VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 1 - Main Event was extremely surprising. Despite taking the North American Challengers title, their lack of experience proved detrimental in Masters Reykjavik. Their consistency deteriorated as they failed to continue their dominance in the second stage and couldn’t qualify for Masters Copenhagen. Their hopes of making another LAN still lingered with the Last Chance Qualifiers, but 100 Thieves was able to sneak a Grand Finals victory past them before they could react.
In the off-season, the team allowed players to look for opportunities on franchised teams and Sayaplayer was able to land a spot in T1, whereas their coaches mCe and Qpert both joined Cloud9. Replacing them on the team will be tex and JoshRT, both of whom have significant experience in VCT events under the NRG banner.
With the new addition's to the team, The Guard's roster will be as follows:
Michael "neT" Bernet Jacob "valyn" Batio Jonah "JonahP" Pulice Trent "trent" Cairns Ian "tex" BotschJosh "JoshRT" Lee (Head Coach)
