Team Liquid finalize roster for LCQ by signing dimasick and eMIL
After failing to qualify for the recently concluded VCT 2022 - Stage 1 - Masters Reykjavík, Team Liquid were granted one more opportunity to earn a spot at the Champions event by participating in VCT 2022 - EMEA Last Chance Qualifier. However, the organization decided that a change was required. Travis "L1NK" Mendoza left for Acend which allowed talent from regional leagues to vie for a spot. Dmitriy "dimasick" Matvienko emerged victorious was announced as the final member of the team for the remainder of the season.
Team Liquid has had considerable success in the EMEA region, as well as the international Stage including a 3rd-4th place at the biggest Valorant tournament of 2021: VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021. Compared to several professional teams, their roster remains unchanged for the majority of last year as well as their transition into the second VCT season courtesy of their consistent performances with the same core. However, in recent times, new and emerging talent have proven to be quite a challenge for the already established teams forcing them to make changes to their playstyle and ultimately their roster.
Although Team Liquid resisted against any changes for so long, placing 5th-6th at VCT 2022 - EMEA - Stage 2 - Challengers - Main Event became the last straw and the team decided to sign Aurimas "Dreamas" Zablockis as a temporary replacement for L1NK. Unfortunately, his playstyle wasn’t what Team Liquid had been aiming for and they continued their search before deciding on Dmitriy "dimasick" Matvienko. dimasick has a diverse agent pool but he has been witnessed playing Sova and Raze more frequently sporting an average 221 ACS and plausible 153.27 ADR across his recorded matches in the last six months.
Yet another introduction to the roster is a Emil "eMIL" Sandgren, a new Head Coach brought in to replace Connor "Sliggy" Blomfield. eMIL was previously a Coach for Guild X guiding the team to two separate VALORANT Game Changers. His resume earned two Grand Finals appearance as the team initially reached the Grand Finals of VCT GC 2022 - EMEA - Series 1 but failed to continue their dominance against G2 Gozen losing the game 3-1. Similarly, they participated in the Grand Finals of VCT GC 2022 - EMEA - Series 2, but once again failed to take down G2 Gozen. Apart from Game Changers, Guild X had also competed in The Goose House - Birds of Prey - Episode 3, and MEDUSA Series in which they ended 2nd in both events.
Following these changes, Team Liquid’s roster is as follows:
Dom "soulcas" Sulcas Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen Nabil "Nivera" Benrlitom Dmitriy "dimasick" MatvienkoEamon "cauzed" Drea (Manager) Emil "eMIL" Sandgren (Head Coach) Jake "Bacon9" Lloyd (Analyst)
