Team Heretics add RUBINO as sixth man
Updated on January 26th, 2020.
European First Strike champions Team Heretics have announced a new addition to their lineup, as Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel has joined to make the roster a six-man unit.
RUBINO has a background in competitive Counter-Strike dating back as far as 2011, and he’s represented organizations such as Dignitas, H2k Gaming, and most recently Nordavind throughout his Global Offensive career. He’s participated in many big events, finishing in the semifinals of Dreamhack Opens Leipzig and Bucharest in 2016, and even took home a big win at EPICENTER 2016.
RUBINO has not yet played any competitive VALORANT events, but astute fans will have remembered that he was part of the Alliance trial that was leaked. It seems he’s ended up on their European rivals instead.
"I decided to join Heretics as a 6th man because i think this will be the meta, there's too many agents for 5 players. Also, starting with VALORANT gave me the missing motivation i had in CS:GO after playing CS since I was 12 years old," RUBINO said for THESPIKE.GG.
Heretics’ announcement comes after Brazilian team paiN Gaming also recently announced a 6-man roster, and it seems more and more teams are moving this direction as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to put players in sometimes precarious online situations. Even just recently, controversy surrounded Dignitas at the NSG 2021 Winter Championship when Chad "oderus" Miller had internet issues and the team had to forfeit a match.
Team Heretics are now:
Melih “pAura” Karaduran Christian “lowel” Garcia Antoran Žygimantas “nukkye” Chmieliauskas Dustyn “niesoW” Durnas Auni “AvovA” Chahade Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel
Tanishq “Tanizhq” Sabharwal (Coach)
