T1 sign former Overwatch player Carpe
A couple of weeks ago, T1 unveiled their roster for VCT 2023. With a well-rounded combination of Korea’s best players, their announcement served as a Challenge to the remaining teams in the Pacific League. While fans were expecting that to be the last of roster announcements from the organization, it seems like a 6th man will also be taking his position on the roster and it is none other than Lee "Carpe" Jae-hyeok.
T1 had far from a good season during VCT 2022 with their main roster struggling to make a mark in NA tournaments, both VCT and otherwise. Unlike many teams in the region that decided to drop their roster, T1 bearing reputation as a giant in the LoL scene with their Korean roster decided to join the Partner Program on the other side of the world. Ever since the introduction of a dedicated competitive scene managed by Riot, T1 has been unable to formulate a roster that can produce viable results, but it seems like a change of location is exactly what they need.
Today’s announcement marked the introduction of a former Overwatch player into the roster as a potential 6th man to fall back on. It is imperative to understand that Carpe was nothing short of an amazing player in the Overwatch scene, with an impressive record of staying on Philadelphia Fusion for five years leading the team to OWL playoffs every year since the inaugural season, even reaching the Grand Finals during 2020. He also represented his country in the Overwatch world cup in 2018 and 2019 finishing third at the latter event after an unfortunate loss United States in the Semi-Finals.
With his induction, T1’s roster is as follows:
Ha "Sayaplayer" Jung-woo Joseph Seungmin "ban" Oh Son "xeta" Seon-ho Byeon "Munchkin" Sang-beom Kim "BeomJun" Beom-jun Lee "Carpe" Jae-hyeokLatest News
