T1 is forming a team by adding AZK to the roster
Just a little bit over a month ago, the Korean-based organization, T1, has announced the world’s first VALORANT professional player, Braxton “Brax” Pierce, to join their forces. Today we have got to know the second member of their North American squad.
The organization has decided to contract a former teammate of Brax, Keven “AZK” Larivière, who has experience not only in CS:GO but also Overwatch. This situation is a reunion for both of the mentioned players since both of them were competing as members of Team iBUYPOWER in 2014-2015 and finished it once the North American match-fixing scandal has occurred in 2015 and Valve decided to permanently ban both of them alongside five other individuals from the future official Valve events.
After the mentioned scandal, AZK has moved to Overwatch to play it professionally for Team Liquid in the Overwatch League in 2016. Once all of the individuals participating in the match-fixing scandal were unbanned from the competition by the third-party organizers such as ESL and DreamHack, AZK has returned to the CS:GO scene in 2017. Larivière has retired from the professional scene in the middle of 2018.
Even though we haven’t heard from him for quite a while, knowing how skillful he was back in his iBUYPOWER days, we can assume he will once again create very good chemistry with his fellow teammate, Brax.
With this move, we can admit that T1 is coming very strong with their pick-ups to represent them in the future VALORANT esports activities. Will we see more retired CS:GO players being added to the squad? Or maybe we will see once again the iconic and very talented North American iBUYPOWER roster competing once again together in the newest Riot Games’ title? We will find out soon. Stay tuned for more news!
