T1 announce CheongGak as coach
T1 sign with former pro PUBG player
Joining the team as coach is 28-year-old Lee "CheongGak" Il-hoéyu, who has no previous career history in the VALORANT arena, neither as a player nor as a coach. CheongGak is a former professional PUBG player. Just 9 months ago, CheongGak was playing PUBG professionally for South Korea-based esports organization Maru Gaming. CheongGak started his professional esports career in 2018, at the age of 23, and has been part of the PUBG esports scene for 4 years. He departed Maru Gaming in June 2022, and as of today, he will take over the coaching duties of T1's VALORANT lineup.
T1 had a rather short adventure at VCT LOCK//IN, losing 2:0 to FURIA in their first match and saying goodbye to the tournament. CheongGak is joining the T1 VALORANT staff head coach Yoon "Autumn" Eu-teum and the current assistant coach Dakota "Stunner" MacLeod.
The organization recently parted ways with Kim "BeomJun" Beom-jun, who was the 6th player on the team, and signed Kang "iNTRO" Seung-gyun instead, forming a 6-man roster again.
T1 will make their debut with their slightly revamped roster at VCT 2023 - Pacific League against Global Esports on March 25 at 15:00 (UTC+3).
