Stage 1 Masters to be held at Reykjavik, Iceland
Riot have revealed that VCT 2022 - Stage 1 - Masters Reykjavík is set to be played in Reykjavik from April 10th to the 24th. The iconic Icelandic venue sees action for the first time since VCT 2021 - Stage 2 - Masters Reykjavík last year, which was VALORANT’s inaugural international LAN.
The statement explained that Riot’s “deep relationship and familiarity” with Iceland was the reason the location was chosen, ensuring that all teams are able to compete at the event, along with time zones favorable for global audiences.
Alongside venue information, the statement highlighted that Riot will continue to provide EMEA the most Masters slots this VCT season, with three teams from the region eligible to qualify, followed by North America and APAC with two each, Brazil and LATAM with one each and a contested slot between them, and Korea and Japan with one slot each.
Teams are also to be better rewarded for performing on the international stage this season, as outlined in the table above. Furthermore, top seeds from the aforementioned regions will reap the benefits of their efforts by being seeded deeper into brackets over the lower seeded teams who will have a longer route to success.
