Sentinels sign Zekken for VCT 2023
Following the acquisition of XSET’s former head coach Sykko, the chances of having an XSET player signed to the team increased and considering individual performances from the recently concluded VCT season it was either Zekken or Cryocells. A few days ago, however, 100 Thieves announced Cryo’s signing, further increasing the chances for Zekken to come on board.
During the inaugural season of VCT, Sentinels had become a household name courtesy of their international performances and the hype they had built in the community. Unfortunately, VCT 2022 wasn’t as graceful to them as they failed to produce significant results in either of the Stages and couldn’t keep up with other teams in the Last Chance Qualifiers either.
In contrast, XSET ranked 2nd in according to circuit points they accumulated due to their consistent performances throughout the season. Stage 1 did not go entirely their way but they nonetheless finished with a 4th place in VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 1 - Main Event, and then sought their redemption in the subsequent stage by winning VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 2 - Main Event and earning a spot at Masters Copenhagen and then to VALORANT Champions 2022.
Zekken was an integral part of XSET’s roster finishing the VCT season with a 1.22 Rating averaged from trying out six different Agents with Raze and Jett being his go-to. At VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 2 - Main Event, he finished 7th in the Player’s leaderboard being the most impactful versatile player in the tournament.
With this announcement, Sentinel’s roster is as follows:
Tyson "TenZ" Ngo Zachary "zekken" Patrone Michael "dapr" GulinoDon "SyykoNT" Muir (Head Coach) Adam "kaplan" Kaplan (Strategic Coach) Matthew "Weltis" Liu (Analyst) Kevin "Kez" Jeon (Manager)
