Report: Sentinels to sign zekken and dephh
Sentinels were able to earn a spot in the Valorant Partner Program being one of only five NA teams in the Americas League. Ever since they have joined the race of restructuring their roster to prepare for the upcoming VCT season and it has been subjected to a lot of interest and speculation from the Valorant community due to Sentinels’s significant social presence as opposed to other teams in the scene that keep a relatively low-profile.
So far, however, the organization has managed to keep up the suspense and only revealed their new Head Coach and Strategic coach from XSET and Ghost Gaming respectively. Considering the success XSET had as a team in VCT 2022, the community started suggesting that Sentinels might potentially sign some players to their roster and according to the latest report by George Geddes, the team is set to acquire two former XSET players: Rory "dephh" Jackson and Zachary "zekken" Patrone.
After quite the roller-coaster ride during VCT 2022, Sentinels had managed to stay within top 10 in NA teams courtesy of circuit points giving one last chance at qualifying for a LAN for the season. Unfortunately, VCT 2022 - North America Last Chance Qualifier did not come bearing good news for them and their run ended in Lower Bracket round 2 at the hands of 100 Thieves. From being the best Valorant team in the world for consecutive stages during VCT 2021 to not qualifying for any international event in 2022, Sentinels had a difficult season and are bound to seek revenge in the upcoming season.
In contrast, XSET, for whom dephh and Zekken have played for since June 2021, ranked 2nd in NA according to circuit points they accumulated by putting on great showing consistently one tournament after another. Stage 1 did not go entirely their way but they nonetheless finished with a 4th place in VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 1 - Main Event, and then sought their redemption in the subsequent stage by winning VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 2 - Main Event and earning a spot at Masters Copenhagen and then to VALORANT Champions 2022.
Being debutants on the international stage, they witnessed limited success in Denmark but placed 5th-6th in Istanbul against the best teams in the world earning a generous prize pool of $60,000. Zekken has been the leader of the squad in terms of rating at 1.26 with a bias towards playing Neon whereas dephh usually plays KAY/O and Breach, a plausible excuse for his rating stagnating at 1.00 over the last three months. If this report withstands the test of time, Sentinels roster will be as follows:
Tyson "TenZ" Ngo Zachary "zekken" Patrone Rory "dephh" Jackson Michael "dapr" GulinoDon "SyykoNT" Muir (Head Coach) Adam "kaplan" Kaplan (Strategic Coach) Matthew "Weltis" Liu (Analyst) Kevin "Kez" Jeon (Manager)
