After XSET’s fascinating display of their skill in the matchup against Luminosity Gaming, THESPIKE.GG had the opportunity to interview Adam "mada" Pampuch and Zachary "zekken" Patrone. Here is a summary of how each interview was conducted.

Luminosity Gaming:

**THESPIKE.GG: While todays loss means no chance of going to Masters Reykjavik, finishing top 6 is a good result for your team coming all the way from open qualifiers? **

mada: We are a brand new team, but we still had significant improvement from the first open qualifiers, and I think with more time we are just going to get better and better. I think the biggest problem with us is our map pool. We are losing a lot of vetoes before matches, and the maps we play on aren’t exactly too comfortable for us yet. We’ve practiced them a little bit, but we do not have enough practice for any of the maps just because of how new a team we are.

THESPIKE.GG: Regarding your win against Version1, even though they were the top-ranking team in Group B with a 5-0 record in the group stages, you were able to defeat them. How did the team feel after the win?

mada: Honestly, we were quite confident that we matched up well against them. Even though they had a 5-0 record recently, we knew that it didn’t mean that much going into the playoffs. We didn’t let the win get to us and kept moving forward after that, but things didn’t work out

THESPIKE.GG: Despite losing on Ascent against Version1, why did you decide to choose it as your map pick in today’s matchup?

mada: We had been practicing Ascent more and more and we felt pretty good on the map. In fact, we were working on Ascent more than any other map during practice and we knew that the results against Version1 didn't really matter since the fight was extremely close and it could’ve easily gone our way.

THESPIKE.GG: How do you feel about your individual performance in the tournament

mada: It was definitely good, but I can still improve a lot.

XSET:

THESPIKE.GG: Apart from the extremely close loss against OpTic, your team managed to restrict both the Knights, and today LG to less than 10 rounds on both the maps played in the matchup. How do you feel about your team’s performance as of late?

Zekken: I think after losing to OpTic, we all have a chip on our shoulders going into the matchup against the Knights and then LG. Especially since we are in the lower brackets, we wanted to perform at our best. That combined with the confidence we have against teams like the Knights and Luminosity Gaming helped us perform really well. I'm really happy with how we are performing especially with the addition of Matthew "Cryocells" Panganiban and am excited for the future.

THESPIKE.GG: In the match between Cloud9 and Version1, which team do you see winning?

Zekken: I think it could go either way. I think both Cloud9 and Version1 are equal in terms of how dominant they were in the Group Stages. No matter who gets through, we are looking forward to the matchup.

THESPIKE.GG: Did LG choosing Ascent throw you off-guard especially since they previously had a loss against V1 on that map?

Zekken: We were surprised that they picked it because when while preparing for the matchup, we had noted that Ascent was a bad for them and something that they banned or lost on pretty often. So, when they picked it, we were surprised Ascent, but we had practiced it anyways and we were ready when it came down to it.

THESPIKE.GG: You have been spotted playing several different Agents, but which ones are you the most comfortable with?

Zekken: I think it would be Kay/O and Raze because I have been playing them for a long time now and have a lot of experience with them in big matches.

THESPIKE.GG: How do you feel about your performance throughout the event?

Zekken: Individually, I am happy with my performance. I feel like I’m really in form and although we have played with teams with very different playstyles, I have been able to frag and play at my own pace. My teammates are very good at supporting and comms and I think that helps me come into my own and perform consistently.
