Overwatch League champion ANS joins T1
T1 have announced the signing of Overwatch League champion Lee "ANS" Seon-chang to their roster.
When ANS joined the San Francisco Shock at the beginning of the 2020 OWL season, fans were somewhat taken aback. The Shock, defending champions, had just lost their MVP in Jay "sinatraa" Won, while ANS had been a streamer and unsuccessful tier 2 player. It was expected that he would be a backup, or a player they were looking to grow for the future. Things didn’t turn out that way at all.
As the season went on, ANS established himself as one of the absolute best DPS players in the league. Primarily playing snipers such as Widowmaker, ANS put together highlight reel play after highlight reel play, and was a key part in the Shock’s march to their second consecutive OWL championship.
At the end of the season, ANS announced that he would be stepping back from competitive play to focus on his mental health. After taking a few months to primarily stream, it seems ANS has decided to come back to competition.
ANS steps into a T1 roster that not only has seen success with Korean Overwatch snipers in Ha "Sayaplayer" Jung-woo, but is also setting new things up. In the announcement video, they reveal that they’re working on an academy system to support ANS and other players, while he will be the sixth man for the main roster as of right now.
Every player in North America should be worried right now. Counter-Strike fans may not know him, but you will soon. If ANS can keep up the pace he was at in Overwatch, he has potential to be one of the best players in North America.
