Omega Group day one recap VCT LOCK//IN
Team Secret vs Team Liquid
In the Group Omega debut, we had the clash between Team Secret and Team Liquid, the EMEA representatives haven't shined yet during the VCT LOCK//IN and TL carried the responsibility of representing their region well. However, what we saw was a reactive Liquid and a dominant Team Secret.
In the first map of the series, Icebox, chosen by the Pacific team, Team Secret managed to start with a subtle 11-2 on the scoreboard. They completely dominated on Defense and only lost a few rounds on the Attack. Liquid took too long to start creating their own plays and it wasn't enough to pose a threat on the other side. Final score of 13-8.
On Fracture, it was expected that things would change a bit, but that didn't happen. Team Secret again completely dominated on Defense and left chances for TL to equalize the score, 9-3 in the first half, and after losing the initial rounds in the second half, they once again took control of the game and had no problem closing the series, 13-7 for Team Secret, and TL is eliminated.
TS was considered one of the underdog teams in this group, while TL was one of the favorites. The favoritism wasn't demonstrated in the game.
EMEA hope shines again
In the second match of the day between Natus Vincere and KRÜ Esports, the representative team from the Americas started far behind on their map choice, Ascent. NAVI quickly managed to impose their game and secured several rounds in sequence, finishing the first half scoring 9 rounds. KRÜ managed to secure the Round Pistol, but that was all they could get, losing only the first two rounds of the second half. NAVI once again took control and secured the victory, 13-5.
On the second map, the story was quite different. KRÜ showed a good strategy on Lotus and brought a very aggressive composition. The team managed to dominate the game well on Defense and ended the first half with a score of 9-3. In the second half, NAVI showed that they also had some tricks up their sleeve and only lost a single round throughout the rest of the map. KRÜ had some specific opportunities to reverse the situation, but it wasn't enough. Final score of 13-10 and victory for NAVI in the series.
Blue Lock, but not the japanese one
In the last game of the day, ZETA DIVISION faced Leviatán. The LATAM team did not have one of their main players for this series, Angelo "Keznit" Mori, who was substituted.
In the first game of the series, on Ascent, Leviatán was totally dominant on their map choice, with an almost perfect first half, only losing 2 rounds on each side. Zeta didn't know how to work against Leviatán's quick dominance, and the match was decided very quickly, 13-4.
On Pearl, the Pacific representatives' map choice, the first half was well-balanced. Zeta showed a strong Attack, and Leviatán also had their moments. The first half ended in a tie, 6-6. As Defense, however, Zeta seemed lost at the beginning. Leviatán managed to score several rounds in sequence, and the game reached 11-6. Zeta, however, won a few rounds in a row and put Leviatán in a very complicated situation at the end of the game. But the experienced team from the Americas knew how to deal with the tough moment and made important rounds to end the match, 13-11 for Leviatán.
The MVP of the game and the day goes to Roberto "Mazino" Rivas for the excellent performance in both games he played.
