Na’Vi and Liquid to form the latest Upper Bracket Semi Final matchup - EMEA LCQ Day 2
The second day of VCT 2022 - EMEA Last Chance Qualifier is over now with Team Liquid and Natus Vincere moving on to the Upper Bracket Semi Finals. BBL Esports and Guild Esports will face each other in the Lower Bracket.
The first match of the day was played between Team Liquid and BBL Esports. The Turkish side picked Ascent to start things off on the second day of the tournament. Team Liquid had a killer composition. Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom picked Phoenix and they also had Omen, Fade, KAY/O, and Chamber. Liquid’s defensive strategies were effective in the earlier stages of the first half but BBL Esports found some ways to sneak some wins in. They also won the last four rounds of the first half with their impressive attacks and led the half with a score of 7-5. Doğukan "QutionerX" Dural grabbed 15 kills on Jett and ScreaM answered him with 11 kills on his Phoenix. Team Liquid won the second pistol round and made another impressive start to the half. BBL managed to stop some of their attacks but TL still came on top by winning the game after 24 rounds, 13-11. The first map was very competitive and close until the end. ScreaM grabbed 21 kills in the game and held a 1.09 rating with Phoenix. Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen followed him with 20 kills and a 1.04 rating. QutionerX tried his best on Ascent, grabbing 22 kills and holding a 1.18 rating.
Team Liquid’s map pick was Icebox and they made it clear that the map was their comfort zone by dominating the map from the start until the very end. They won the first six rounds in style but BBL came on top and grabbed its first win in the seventh round. The Turkish side failed to win another round until the end of the half. Team Liquid had a massive lead after the first half, 11-1. The newest signing, Dmitriy "dimasick" Matvienko had a great Sage performance on the attacking side, holding a 1.84 rating. The second half was almost the same as the first one. The only difference was that BBL failed to win a single round and Liquid finalized the series after winning only two rounds on defense. dimasick finished the game with a 1.80 rating.
Guild Esports vs Natus Vincere
The series between Guild Esports and Natus Vincere started on Haven. It was selected by the side of Na’Vi and they won the pistol round after defusing the bomb. Despite losing one round in the earlier phases, Natus Vincere successfully defended the bomb sites for eight rounds in the first half and lost four. Guild’s round wins were divided into half; they weren’t dominant in any stage. Yacine "Yacine" Laghmari, who has recently joined the team as covered, did not have the best performance with a 0.12 rating on the attacking side and only two kills while dying 12 times. Kirill "Cloud" Nehozhin stepped up for Na’Vi with a 1.69 rating on Raze. Guild made a dominant start on the defensive side of the game but they failed to keep it up until the end of the map. Na’Vi found a couple of picks and won the first map 13-11. They made it happen by winning the last three rounds. Nikolai "zeddy" Lapko concluded the game with a 1.33 rating on Omen.
The second map of the series was Split, this time Guild Esports’ choice. The European organization showed no mercy in the earlier stages of the competition and had very impressive attacks. However, the CIS team closed the gap in the second phase of the half and won four rounds in a row. They had already won two before so after the streak, they managed to tie the game at 6-6 at the end. The first half of the second map was a duel between Leo "Leo" Jannesson and Artur "7ssk7" Kyourshin. The Swedish player held a 1.91 rating on Sage and the Belarusian Chamber grabbed 17 kills while holding a 2.02 rating. Guild had a slightly better defense in the game and they managed to win the game in the second half with a score of 13-11. The competition was very close but the European team guaranteed the win thanks to their clutch performances. Leo secured 26 kills with Sage in his hands and played an important role in forcing another map in the Upper Bracket Quarter Finals.
The decider map of the series was Icebox. Again, Na’Vi made a good start by defusing the bomb in the pistol round but Guild answered back by winning the second round. Just like the first map, the CIS team won eight rounds in the first half and had impressive defensive performances throughout the half. Another Sage played his heart out in the series once again but this time it was zeddy. The Belarusian player grabbed 12 kills to help his team dominate the first half. The second half started with Guild’s 4-round winning streak until it was ended by Na’Vi’s successful offense. The European team failed to spread the dominance in the second half and they lost the game eventually. Natus Vincere won the last map with a score of 13-9 and moved on in the tournament. 7ssk7 was the hero once again with 22 kills on Chamber.
The competition will continue today with the Lower Bracket games. G2 Esports will take on Acend and BBL Esports will face Guild Esports. More information on the events page.
