In the Lower Bracket Quarter final of VCT 2022 - EMEA - Stage 2 - Challengers - Main Event, M3 Champions took down Team Liquid and pushed them out of the Copenhagen Race. The Russian representatives have reached the Lower Bracket Semi Finals.
Icebox
As expected, Team Liquid’s pick was Icebox as we have seen them winning on the map countless times. M3 Champions started the map on the defending side and won the first four rounds of the competition. Team Liquid struggled to execute their attacking utilities and strategies in the early stages of the game. Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov’s first-round performance on Chamber with 3 kills. Team Liquid got back in the competition with Dom "soulcas" Sulcas and Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen stepping up in the fourth round. After winning another round, Team Liquid managed to stay on top for the rest of the game and tied the score before they switched sides. Both teams grabbed 6 rounds in the first half and it all came to the point where they will switch attack and defense and try to dominate the game. Chronicle’s 15-kill Chamber performance kept M3 Champions in the game as he also grabbed 5 first bloods and held a 1.70 rating. Liquid’s Jamppi was the other Chamber in the game and he was also the leader of his team with 15 kills. The Finnish star played his heart out with 6 first bloods and a 1.72 rating. The Russian representatives started their attacking turn in style with a solid pistol-round win. However, Team Liquid started to use their defensive utilities more effectively and completed a 4-round winning streak. Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom stepped up throughout TL’s dominance and helped Jamppi with Raze in his hands. M3C failed to execute their attacking tactics and Liquid won the first map in 23 rounds, 13-10. Jamppi finished the game with 25 kills and the closest teammate to him had 15 kills. On the other side of the competition, Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin had his team on his shoulders with 23 kills. Chronicle grabbed 15 kills on defense but failed to keep up his performance on the attacking side with only 4 kills to his name.
Fracture
The Russian side picked Fracture to tie the series. They started on the attacking side and used Fracture’s attacking simplices in the opening round of the competition. Team Liquid’s answer was not late but also not very strong as they grabbed a win in the third round and then fell back again. M3 Champions conquered the map in every place possible and had great attacking strategies to upset TL’s defense. The dominance continued until the end of the first half and Team Liquid showed a pulse in a handful of scenarios. In the end, M3 Champions led the half with a 4-round margin, 8-4. Their attacking performance was very impressive as they used Fracture’s strategies and gaps efficiently. Igor "Redgar" Vlasov’s Omen was the man of the half with 13 kills and a 1.47 rating. Chronicle was there to help him just like he did in the first map with 11 kills on Raze. Team Liquid did not have the best defending performance but Dom "soulcas" Sulcas surely had a great individual performance with 14 kills on Astra. He was the main reason why Liquid won four rounds in the first half. M3 Champions started the second half with another pistol-round win. This time, Icebox’s hero, nAts, stepped up with a 4-kill chamber performance to help his team protect their lead on the defending side. Just like he did in the first half, soulcas tried his best to keep his team in the game and even complete a possible comeback but M3C were far better on Fracture. The Russian squad closed out the game in 20 rounds, 13-7. nAts was the man of the map with 22 kills on Chamber and he also held a 1.48 rating. The British Astra, soulcas, finished the game with 20 kills but Liquid only won 7 rounds in total. It was time for the deciding map, Bind.
Bind
The decider of the series was Bind. The competition started with M3 Champions’ pistol round dominance. Redgar and sheydos stepped up with 4 kills combined and gave the organization an easy round. The first half continued with both teams winning consecutive rounds against each other. Starting from the third round, Liquid won five rounds in a row and then M3 Champions got the lead back with a 4-round winning streak. Liquid put an end to the first half by winning the last round and tieing the game to 6-6. Redgar and Chronicle were the leaders of the Russian squad once again as they got 12 and 11 kills respectively. On the other side, the Benrlitom brothers and soulcas were the players that kept Liquid in the game. The second half was a completely different story. M3 Champions literally destroyed Team Liquid and did not lose a single round. After winning seven rounds in a row, M3C closed out the series and moved on in the tournament. Redgar finished the game with 23 kills and Chronicle had 21.
It is now the end of the road for Team Liquid as they are out. M3 Champions’ Copenhagen hope continues as they are now waiting for their opponents in the Lower Bracket Semi Finals of VCT 2022 - EMEA - Stage 2 - Challengers - Main Event
