Guild sweep M3C, qualify for Masters Copenhagen
The leaders of VCT 2022 - EMEA - Stage 2 - Challengers - Main Event Group B, Guild Esports took down M3 Champions to become the first Upper Bracket Finalist.
Breeze
The Russian representatives came to this stage by showing a dominant performance against Acend yesterday. Just like yesterday, they picked Breeze as their pick of the series. These two teams came across each other in the VCT 2022 - EMEA - Stage 2 - Challengers - Main Event Group Stage and Guild Esports were the winners with a 2-0 sweep. The European team started the game with a pistol-round win and eventually won the second round. M3 Champions showed momentum in the third and fourth rounds with Igor "Redgar" Vlasov stepping up with 3 kills in total. The streak did not last long as Guild immediately answered back by winning three rounds. Leo "Leo" Jannesson’s Sova was very useful for them, especially in combat as he grabbed 6 kills during the streak. After that point, they only lost one round and led the half with a 6-round deficit, 9-3. Saif "Sayf" Jibraeel completed the first half with 16 kills and 5 deaths. However, Leo had the best rating on the side of Guild with a solid 1.79. M3 Champions made an impressive start to the second half with a 3-round winning streak. Redgar’s 4-kill pistol round performance led the way for the Russian team. Despite making a strong start, M3C failed to keep their pace as Guild Esports closed out the first map by winning the last four rounds of the map. Nikita "trexx" Cherednichenko’s Cypher was the most important piece for the European team as he held a 2.0 rating with a 408 ACS. Moreover, the Russian player grabbed 11 kills. Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov was the most effective player on the field for M3C with a 1.70 rating and 8 kills. Guild Esports made a strong start to the series by taking down their opponents on Breeze with a score of 13-6.
Fracture
Guild’s choice was Fracture. They played the map two times during the group stage and had a 50% win rate. They had demolished Team Liquid but failed to beat BIG on Fracture. The European team started the game on defense and won the opening round of the map thanks to Nikita "trexx" Cherednichenko’s 4-kill Raze performance. However, M3C answered back with an eco-round win and only had two Sheriffs and one Ghost. The hype continued for two more rounds but Guild eventually took control of the game. Leo’s Breach was very important during that time for the European team. Until the end of the half, M3C took two more rounds and Guild had the lead with a score of 7-5 at the end of their defense. trexx led his team with 13 kills while holding a 1.47 rating with Raze in his hands. Saif "Sayf" Jibraeel supported him with firepower, holding a 1.11 rating and grabbing 10 kills. Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin had the most impact on the other side, holding a 1.65 rating and grabbing 14 kills. He also had 3 first bloods to his name. The second half started with Guild Esports’ dominance. They won the first two rounds by eliminating all the opposing members. M3C’s answer was in the third round as they successfully completed the post-plant mission and secured their first rounds of the half. The Russian team lost one round but immediately rose back up by holding a 4-round winning streak. M3C looked like they had the control of the game but it lasted until the 21st round in which Sayf took the stage with 3 kills on Chamber, starting his way with a Classic against Vandals and an Operator. After that point, Guild took control and dropped only one round before closing the game after the 24th round. trexx finished the game with 22 kills and Sayf was the second with 21 kills on Chamber. Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov also had a great performance on Raze, grabbing 22 kills and holding a 1.22 rating.
Guild Esports are now in the Upper Bracket Finals and M3 Champions will continue their way from the Lower Bracket. They will come up against Team Liquid tomorrow.
