Gifting and replay system are coming to VALORANT
VALORANT launched officially on June 2nd, 2020, however, the game still lacks a lot of features the community desires. Riot Games have been doing a tremendous job at communicating with the VALORANT player base and keeping the players updated on the status of new features, like notifications on reports’ status, upcoming esports plans, and even a better Radiant ranking system. The studio released their third iteration of Ask VALORANT, where they answer the most commonly requested questions. The first and second editions gave us some insight on the state of picks and bans, the possibility of a deathmatch mode, and more.
Sometimes you find a nice skin and you want to surprise a special friend with it when they open up VALORANT. Well, you will be able to do just that soon enough. Riot Games are aiming towards the end of 2020 to allow you to gift content to anyone on your friends list. The release timeline isn’t set in stone as it might change if the studio’ development priority shifts towards more important matters in the game.
“Yes, gifting will be coming to VALORANT (soon™)! We want to give players the ability to gift content as a way of celebrating victories, holidays, or any occasion that calls for it. We're aiming to enable gifting by the end of 2020, but timelines may shift as we get closer to the date,” revealed Miles “Riot Usury” Metzger, the studio’s Revenue Strategist.
Another topic heavily requested from the VALORANT community, and already present in the studio’s MOBA, League of Legends, is finally getting addressed. The tactical shooter will soon receive a replay system, where players can revisit matches to study their plays and improve. This will come in handy for professional players and esports organizations to set up plays and execute upon them when the time comes during tournaments.
“Yes! this is something that we're interested in exploring soon. Whether it's to study previous matches for tactical advantages or to create spicy memes, we know that players will find a wide range of interesting uses for a system like this,” explained Senior Producer Steven Eldredge.
