G2 Esports part ways with roster, Shahzam stays as a streamer
G2 Esports, one of the most popular esports organizations in the world, have announced that it is parting ways with their VALORANT roster. The roster, which was formed in 2023 with the goal of becoming a top team in the world, failed to live up to expectations and was eliminated in the VCT 2023 - Challengers North America Playoffs to The Guard. The only player who will remain with G2 is Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan, who will transition to a content creator role. The other players on the roster are now free agents and are looking for new teams to join.
G2 Esports failed to meet the expectations
After failing to get a ticket to VCT 2023 Americas League, G2’s hustle started with the Challengers competition. The organization finished Challengers League NA Split 1 in third place and reached the grand final of Mid-Season Face Off, but the story ended after the second split. G2 went 0-5 during Split 2 and bid farewell to playoffs after the second round of the playoffs.
Following the devastating defeat, G2 Esports made the decision that it was time to shift course and completely restructure their VALORANT division. With the exception of ShahZam, who will continue to work for the company as a content provider, they released every player they had. ShahZam has a loyal fan base that watches him on Twitch and YouTube. He is one of the most popular VALORANT players in the world. He will keep producing videos and streaming for G2 Esports.
ShahZam, one of the team's star performers, has been retained by G2 Esports as a content creator within the organization despite the restructure of their VALORANT division. ShahZam excels as a player and a content developer, and G2 Esports intends to use his knowledge to interact with their fan base and broaden their presence in the gaming industry.
