Fnatic’s VCT EMEA match postponed due to multiple COVID cases
After many players in the Fnatic VALORANT roster tested positive for COVID-19, Riot Games decided to postpone the match between Fnatic and KOI in VCT 2023 - EMEA League . Instead, at 11 a.m. CT today, the sole series in the European competition will start between Giants and FUT Esports. Riot released a statement saying: "We wish the Fnatic players a speedy recovery and apologize to fans for the inconvenience caused by the change in schedule."
While ticket holders for today's game may still show up, they will also soon have the opportunity to get their money back.
Prior to the match against KOI, Fnatic withheld the names of the players that tested positive for COVID-19, although professional duelist Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev indicated on Twitter that he and Leo "Leo" Janesson are the ones who have come down with Covid. "COVID 2:0 Derke and Leo," he posted.
“A huge thank you to Riot for their understanding and cooperation on the matter. We’ll provide more updates as we have them, including our updated schedule. Today’s watch party in London is unfortunately also postponed.” Fnatic said today on Twitter.
After winning the first four games against Giants, BBL Esports, Team Heretics, and Team Liquid, Fnatic is presently in the lead in the VCT EMEA. They are the only unbeaten team in EMEA's top league and they have only lost one map thus far in a series against BBL. On the other side, with a 1-3 record, KOI is among the league's weakest teams.
We are yet to receive information when the match will be played.
