Dota2 and CS:GO giants OG enter the VALORANT scene
Considering VALORANT launched in early 2020, its competitive scene is slowly attracting all the major organizations around the world to chime in. The latest to pick up a roster is OG Esports. Their team includes Benjamin "uNKOE" Chevasson, Keven "TviQ" Lindström, Dragan "elllement" Milanović, Theo "OniBy" Tarlier, and Dylan "aKm" Bignet, as well as the coaching expertise of Julian "Daemon" Ducros.
Reports of OG entering the VALORANT scene surfaced after their surprising participation in the Red Bull Home Ground - #1 - Main Event without having a known roster. For those of you who don’t know the individuals on the team, all three of uNKOE, TviQ, and aKm are former Overwatch professional players. Meanwhile, elllement is coming over from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Both aKm and uNKOE are former Rogue and Dallas Fuel players, but they both represented other teams throughout their Overwatch careers. They managed to win the Overwatch TaKeOver 2, Overwatch PIT Championship North America Season 1, APAC Premier 2016, and 2016 ESL Overwatch Atlantic Showdown Gamescom during their time together on the same teams. In addition to that, they finished 4th in the Overwatch World Cup 2017 as part of the French national team.
TviQ is another Overwatch professional who managed to win a number of titles among other respectable finishes in major tournaments. The player was part of the Swedish team who finished 3rd in the Overwatch World Cup 2017. Not only that, he won the APAC Premier 2016 and the 2016 ESL Overwatch Atlantic Showdown Gamescom, as well as placing 8th in the Overwatch Contenders 2019 Season 2: North America West. Collectively, the three former Overwatch players were known as some of the game’s best in its early stages, and it will be interesting to see how they can transition to VALORANT.
As for elllement, he lifted the A1 Adria League Season 4 trophy, before finish 4th in the A1 Adria League Season 4 Finals. He finished 2nd in both the GeForce CSGO Tournament by OMEN by HP and the WESG 2019 Adria Closed Qualifier.
Last but not least, OniBy is one of the up and coming talents in the VALORANT scene, and adds the young-and-hungry element into the roster. He’s related to Overwatch League player So0n, and previously played VALORANT for Shu’s Money Crew. The mixture of backgrounds will definitely be interesting to see it translate into results in OG’s upcoming competitions after RedBull Home Ground.
OG’s VALORANT team are:
Benjamin "uNKOE" Chevasson Dylan "aKm" Bignet Theo "OniBy" Tarlier Keven "TviQ" Lindström Dragan "elllement" Milanović
