Apart from the International leagues that were introduced as a result of the revamped VCT format, the regional leagues have also had interesting narratives surface most prominently in North America with the development of rosters influenced by Twitch stars including the noteworthy Disguised by Jeremy "Disguised Toast" Wang.

yay's roller coaster journey through VCT 2023

After starting their journey through the Open Qualifiers, they found themselves in Group B of Challengers Split 1, which they managed to persevere and finish with an underwhelming 2-3 record. However, placing top 4 in their group granted them a spot at mid-season faceoff for a chance at some additional points. Unfortunately, the roster did not perform spectacularly at that event either and ended up with a 7th-8th place. They currently stand at the 8th position in NA, according to VCT points.

Despite these early challenges, Disguised has come a long way from not having a roster to holding the eight spot in a fairly competitive league. However, the road to Ascension will have more obstacles barring them from entering easily. To make the route less challenging, Disguised decided to introduce none other than El Diablo, Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker, to the team.

Yay had been a phenomenal contributor to the OpTic team last year, which won the VCT Masters in Reykjavik, Iceland and finished in a number of other top two positions. In the Grand Final of the VCT 2022 - Champions Istanbul, in the match where they lost 3-1 against Brazilian team LOUD, he played with 78/68/7 KDA and 217 ACS and had his name written at the top of the team's scoreboard. In the Off-Season, he signed with Cloud9; however, things did not go as planned for the organization. They made a decent start to the off-season by reaching the Red Bull Home Ground 2022 Grand Final, but they did not perform well at VCT 2023 LOCK//IN being eliminated just after the second round. Yay has been a free agent since, and Challenger Split 2 will likely mark his return into competition.

With this announcement, the Disguised roster is as follows:

  • Canada Joshua "steel" Nissan
  • Canada Damion "XXiF" Cook
  • Mongolia Amgalan "Genghsta" Nemekhbayar
  • United States Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker
  • United States Joseph "Clear" Allen
  • United States Chris "riku" Piasecki
  • Canada Kyle "OCEAN" O'Brien (Head Coach)
