With the uncertainty of their roster lineup being a hot topic in the community, Cloud9 decided to put an end to the debate by announcing their roster for VCT 2023. The new additions consist of Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker, Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro, Mateja "Qpert" Mijovic as the 6th player and Matthew "mCe" Elmore as the Head coach.

Cloud9 were one of the 5 NA teams to make it to the partnership league and like their counterparts they were looking to restructure their roster to provide them a competitive edge in the upcoming VCT 2023 season.

If you are familiar with the competitive scene, you are more than likely to have heard of yay notorious for his spectacular offensive plays. OpTic Gaming had been one of the most consistent teams during the VCT 2022 season starting the year off with a title in VCT 2022 - Stage 1 - Masters Reykjavík, they came close to repeating history at Copenhagen but fell slightly short and tried their luck again at Istanbul, this time to win the Champions event. Unfortunately, the Brazilians bested them in the Grand Finals and they finished with a 2nd place. In almost every event he sets foot in, his name is bound to be in the players leaderboard and arguably Cloud9 will enjoy similar success following his addition.

On the other hand, Zellsis had been a key player of Version1’s core, and has contributed to the team’s success especially during VCT 21. After a difficult year, Zellsis went on a brief stint to Sentinels in hopes of helping them qualify for VCT 2022 - Champions Istanbul but Sentinels failed to get past the NA LCQ and he made his return to V1. Zellsis currently holds a 1.23 rating and a 1.23 K/D and has been spotted playing Kay/O and Neon in recent times.

Qpert is a relatively less known name in the competitive scene with his efforts being primarily limited to an Assistant coach or an Analyst given that he was a member of both the Guard and Team Liquid within the last 3 months. At Cloud9, his role will include helping the Head Coach mCe and also as a potential substitute for the team.

Following this announcement, Cloud9’s roster is as follows:

United States Nathan "leaf" Orf United States Erick "Xeppaa" Bach United States Anthony "vanity" Malaspina United States Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker United States Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro

Serbia Mateja "Qpert" Mijovic (6th Player) United States Matthew "mCe" Elmore (Head Coach)
