Cloud9 bid farewell to vanity
Surprising news continue to come from the side of Cloud9. Recently, the organization announced the departure of the best player of 2022, Jacob “yay” Whiteaker. Today, the organization has parted ways with Anthony "vanity" Malaspina. C9 are now missing two players on their active roster and need to fill it before the VCT 2023 Americas League kicks off.
Cloud9 formed one of the strongest rosters on paper after getting accepted to the new franchised system introduced by Riot Games for 2023. yay’s arrival was considered one of the biggest off-season moves and the organization kept its core to dominate the competition. They had a decent run at Red Home Ground Manchester and reached the grand final. The roster looked promising but things took a turn for the worse as time had passed.
Second departure after yay
After the disappointing performance at VCT 2023 LOCK//IN, C9 parted ways with yay and rumors started to spread as vanity would also leave the organization. Today, C9 made it official on Twitter that they won’t continue with the American player.
His career started with Version1 where he played together with Zellsis. He then joined Cloud9 at the end of the 2021 season. vanity played in the NA Last Chance Qualifiers and had his first international experience at VCT Champions 2021. Until today, vanity competed in every Cloud9 game and took the responsibility of playing Controller agents such as Omen, Viper, and Brimstone. He currently sits at a 1.0 rating and a 1.0 K/D.
Cloud9 have parted ways with both yay and vanity before their opening match of the 2023 Americas International League. Right now, their roster is as follows:
