Case Esports and Team Vitality to meet in Upper Bracket Final - VRL Finals Day 5
The first day of the playoffs is over now with two teams advancing to the Upper Bracket Final and the other team to battle for another chance in the Lower Bracket Semi Finals. Case Esports and Team Vitality are the winners of the day and the other two, FUT Esports, and Angry Titans will try to keep their hopes alive.
Case won the pistol round by successfully defending the bomb site on Angry Titans’ map pick, Bind. However, Titans took control after the second round by winning 4 rounds in a row. The first half continued with their lead and the DACH champions grabbed 4 more until the end of the half. Angry Titans finished the first half with a score of 8-4. Jacob "Lime" Foster led the half with a 1.36 rating and Taranvir "bipo" Singh followed him with a 1.31 rating. Case made a good start to the second half but just like the first half, Angry Titans were the superior side. They won a couple more rounds to win the map they had picked in the series, 13-7. Marco "HearthBeat" Soffia finished the game with a 1.21 rating on Brimstone as well as 3 first bloods.
Case Esports had a chance to bounce back on their map pick, Haven. The Spanish champions made a great start by defusing the bomb in the pistol round. Case Esports dominated the first half and successfully grabbed 10 rounds on the defending side. Four of the members reached double digits in terms of kills with Salvador "Yurii" Gasco leading the field with a 1.57 rating on Breach. The Spanish representatives continued to dominate in the second half and won 3 rounds in a row to force another map in the series, 13-2. Angry Titans failed to show a pulse on both sides of the competition. Alexandr "falltw" Chernukhin finished the game with a 1.64 rating and 17 kills on Omen.

The last map of the series was Icebox. Angry Titans started the competition with a great defensive effort, winning the first 2 rounds of the map. However, Case Esports played like a totally different team after the first gun round. They managed to pick up 7 rounds in a row, 9 in total to conclude their attacking side in style. Štěpán "Ambi" Beránek stepped up with 18 kills and a 1.83 rating on Chamber. Eppz dropped 4 first bloods for the DACH champions but it was not enough as they only won 3 rounds. Just like the previous map, Case Esports once again did not lose a single round in the second half and closed out the series after winning 4 rounds in a row. Alexandr "falltw" Chernukhin’s Viper came in handy on the defensive side, holding a 2.68 rating but Yurii also had a massive performance with 6 kills and a 2.40 rating. Case Esports won the series after losing the first map.
The second match of the day was between Team Vitality and FUT Esports. FUT picked Haven just like they did against Angry Titans two days ago. Team Vitality started the series with a great defensive effort and won the first 6 rounds. FUT’s first round win came in the seventh round but until the end of the half, it was Team Vitality's dominance once again. The French champions secured 9 round wins on the defensive side. Kamil "baddyG" Graniczka was the leader of the squad with a 1.71 rating on Omen. Jokūbas "ceNder" Labutis led Vitality with 15 kills and 3 first bloods. Doğukan "qRaxs" Balaban was the only player reaching double digits on FUT’s squad with 13 kills. Team Vitality’s second half was even more dominant than the first one. They did not waste any time and won the map after 5 second-half maps. Cender finished the game with 21 kills but baddyG had the best rating with a solid 1.69.
Vitality’s map pick of the day was Ascent. Even though it was the French side’s choice, FUT Esports had an impressive run on the defensive side. The Turkish team denied Vitality’s attacks 11 times and only lost 1 round. The competition was very one sided as FUT Esports obviously dominated the game. Doğukan "qRaxs" Balaban’s Fade was the most important factor as he held a 1.88 rating. Konuralp "qw1" Şahin did not have the best rating but won 5 first duels and played a huge role in his team’s success. However, we saw an even better defensive performance from Vitality in the second half. After FUT’s 11-1 run, most of the fans expected another map in the series. Miraculously, Team Vitality won 12 rounds in a row to win the game and close out the series. Cender and baddyG were the heroes once again with 15 and 13 kills respectively.
Case Esports and Team Vitality will face each other in the Upper Bracket Final. On the other hand, FUT Esports and Angry Titans will battle in the Lower Bracket Semi Final to stay in the competition. More information can be found on the events page.
