Brazilian VALORANT First Strike will be a LAN in Sao Paulo
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is stopping us from seeing what a potential clash between the different regions competing in the VALORANT esports world would look like. However, this didn’t stop the Brazilian Riot Games regional office from announcing that the upcoming VALORANT First Strike Brazil competition will be a LAN.
Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLoL) commentator Guilherme “Tixinhadois” Cheida was the first to spark the news with a simple tweet claiming he had inside information of a potential VALORANT LAN event being held in Brazil. Soon after, the official Brazilian VALORANT account responded to confirm the news.
“First-hand news. The Main Event of First Strike of Valorant Brazil, December 3-6, will be hosted at Riot Games Brazil studio. Riot will use the entire prevention protocol that was used in the CBLOL finals! The official announcement will be made soon < 3 < 3,” translated by Sportskeeda.
We have already witnessed three open qualifiers, with the First Strike Brazil: Open Qualifier #4 kicking off in just a few days to lock in the final contestants going into the First Strike Brazil Closed Qualifier. The winners of the latter event will compete in the regional finals between December 3rd, 2020 and December 6th, 2020, which is now confirmed to be a LAN event.
The Riot Games Brazilian studios were used for the CBLoL finals, and all personnel involved underwent testing to make sure the environment is safe for everyone to work and interact with one another under certain conditions.
They will definitely have to do the same for the VALORANT First Strike Brazil Regional Finals LAN competition to succeed. Considering the studio had the same plans for Latin America’s VALORANT Versus competition, which was eventually cancelled and moved online, only time will tell how feasible this will be.
