Brazilian Champions en route to seek redemption in Copenhagen
The champions of Brazil, LOUD, did not hold back their ferocity in Stage 2, which was partially fueled by the desire for redemption after losing to OpTic Gaming in Grand Finals of VCT 2022 - Stage 1 - Masters Reykjavík.
Group Stage
LOUD’s group stage run started with a confident win over FURIA. The first game of the group stage ended with a score of 2-0 for the side of LOUD, 13-3 on Ascent, and 13-4 on Breeze. A combination of Matias "Saadhak" Delipetro’s Kay/O and Erick "aspas" Santos’s Jett helped the team secure their first VCT 2022 - Brazil - Stage 2 - Challengers - Main Event win. LOUD then faced Los Grandes and the series followed a similar narrative with the only difference being the replacement of Breeze by Bind in the map veto.
From there, they secured the easiest win of the tournament for them in the third game of the tournament. Stars Horizon looked lost throughout the series, winning no rounds of Fracture and only nine on Bind. LOUD finally ended their group stage run with another sweep, this time over Gamelanders Blue, proving LOUD’s supremacy in the region. This series was arguably the most interesting considering the effort Gamelanders Blue had to exert to force the game to 32 rounds where LOUD finally prevailed with a final score of 17-15.
Playoffs
After dropping no map during the group stage LOUD faced Los Grandes once again, now with higher stakes in the Upper Bracket Semi Finals. Only 16 rounds of Breeze were played, as Felipe "Less" de Loyola Basso led the team to an overwhelming win over Los Grandes. LOUD reached the Upper Bracket Finals to face Ninjas in Pyjamas, which brought back a similar narrative to VCT 2022 - Brazil - Stage 1 - Main Event. LOUD closed out the series after three games allowing NiP to take a total of only fifteen rounds over the three maps. Although they hadn’t yet officially qualified, most Brazilian fans had come to accept the fate their region would now experience under LOUD’s reign.
As Ninjas in Pyjamas displayed their resilience through the Lower Bracket Finals, they were once again awarded a matchup opportunity against LOUD but this time the stakes were higher. To their dismay, however, they couldn’t withstand the sheer aggression LOUD approached them with and lost the series in a clean sweep.
Preferred Maps:
Given the team’s versatility, narrowing their map picks to a specific one is extremely difficult. However, in terms of frequency, KRU has been spotted choosing Breeze as their map pick in recent matchups and has experienced success almost every time.
Player to watch
- Erick "aspas" Santos
LOUD had different players stepping up during the group stage games. aspas was among those players but he showed his quality, especially during the playoffs. He is holding a 1.36 rating and a 1.61 K/D for the past two months, leading the league in both statistics. Moreover, he is also on top of the ACS and ADR stats, 273 and 176.2 respectively. The Brazilian player has proven himself, especially with all the Agents he has played with including Jett, Raze and Chamber.
