We have seen players from various games and genres switch to VALORANT since its closed beta, anywhere from superstars to people just looking to break into the scene. We have seen Jay "sinatraa" Won make the switch from Overwatch, Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella coming from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and many more high-profile players in their own games. This time we are getting an Apex Legends icon who helped shape Electronic Arts’ battle royale’s competitive scene from the start, TSM’s Mac "Albralelie" Kenzie Beckwith.

Similar to the reasons we have heard from players switching to VALORANT from different games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch, Albralelie feels the Apex Legends competitive future isn’t secure, and described the game’s current situation as a “sinking ship.” He has been playing VALORANT every now and then on his Twitch channel, and his statement makes his professional career pursuit in the tactical shooter’s esports scene inevitable.

“Today is the day that I announce my retirement from Competitive Apex and chose to pursue a future in Valorant. I know some people will be upset by this decision and chose to no longer support me and I completely understand, but this is a choice that I have decided to make for the sake of my happiness… I know many of you will no longer support me because of the move to Valorant, but to those of you who stay and support me for me and not for the game I'm playing. I love you guys with every fiber of my being, and I'm going to be doing everything I can to be more positive, welcoming and happy for the sake of our community,” stated Abralelie.

For those you unfamiliar with Albralelie’s title-studded career in Apex Legends, the American won almost everything there is to win, from weekly competitions to invitationals. He picked up the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational and EXP Invitational Apex Legends at X Games Minneapolis titles, in addition to the GLL Apex Legends Series NA and ALGS Online #2 North America. He competed in the TwitchCon San Diego, winning the showmatch as part of Team AverageAden. **In total, during his time in TSM, he helped the team to claim five back to back championship titles and finish 19 times in first place. **
