Acend and BBL Esports are out of the tournament - EMEA LCQ Day 3
The losing teams of the first round of the Upper Bracket faced each other to stay in the competition. G2 Esports’ pick of the series was Fracture. Acend started the game with a solid pistol round performance and led the first half with a small margin, 7-5. After his disappointing performance in the previous round, Mehmet Yağız "cNed" İpek stepped up for his team on the attacking side with Chamber in his hands. The Turkish player grabbed 14 kills and held a 1.41 rating to keep his team ahead in the first map of the series. Žygimantas "nukkye" Chmieliauskas played the biggest role in G2’s defense with a 1.41 rating and 13 kills on Raze. G2 won the first two rounds of the second half but fell behind after that point. Acend’s defense got better as they bought guns and they closed out the game after nine rounds of second-half action, 13-8. Vakaris "vakk" Bebravičius’s Breach played a huge role on defense and he finished the game with 19 kills and a 1.37 rating. L1NK and cNed also had 19 kills at the end of the competition and Acend made a great start to the series by taking down their opponents on their map choice.
Acend had a huge chance to sweep G2 as the second map was their comfort zone, Haven. We have seen them play the map so many times before and the competition was at the highest level possible. Another solid attacking performance by Acend was executed in the first half as they secured seven rounds and lost five. G2 managed to win the last two rounds of the first half to close the gap and stay in the competition. cNed once again popped off on the attacking side with a 1.32 rating on Jett but Auni "AvovA" Chahade kept G2 in the game with a 1.70-rating Astra performance. The Danish player secured 15 kills while cNed had 13. G2 Esports played like a different team in the second half and they dominated the map, especially in the earlier stages of their attacking turn. cNed and vakk were the leaders of Acend once again but this time, it was Johan "Meddo" Lundborg’s time to shine. The Swedish Killjoy grabbed 18 kills on the attacking side and helped G2 force another map in the series, 13-11. It was a very close matchup but G2 Esports’ dominance in the earlier phases of the second half as mentioned sealed the deal for them. Meddo finished the game with 28 kills.
Guild Esports picked Fracture to finish the series and continue its run from the Lower Bracket. They managed to plant the bomb in the first two rounds but BBL Esports played superbly in both post-plant scenarios to grab the lead. Doğukan "QutionerX" Dural grabbed two kills in each round to make it happen for the Turkish squad. The first half continued with both sides’ winning streaks. BBL had a 5-round streak to reach seven rounds rapidly but Guild Esports won the last four rounds of the half to close the gap, 7-5. Qutioner and aimDLL were the most important parts of BBL’s defense. Guild won the second pistol round but BBL answered back with a 2-round winning streak. After that point, it was expected that the Turkish team could take the momentum and continue to dominate the game but the scenario was completely different. Guild Esports had great defenses until the end of the map and concluded the series by taking BBL down with a score of 13-10 on Fracture. Nikita "trexx" Cherednichenko had a stand-out performance, holding a 1.58 rating with 25 kills.
The competition will continue without BBL and Acend. G2 Esports and Guild Esports are waiting for their opponents in the Lower Bracket. The losers of today will face them and you can find more information about it on the events page.
