2Game, zap and the end: find out everything about the situation
It took a while, but 2GAME Esports announced Brenno "zap" Roberto's departure from the VALORANT lineup Friday, March 28. As first published by THESPIKE Brasil, the player decided to leave the team and communicated the decision to his teammates after a training session held on Wednesday, March 26. He, however, claimed that the decision fell on behalf of the organization. The details of the story are as follows.
Order of events
THESPIKE Brasil reported on March 26 that zap had decided to leave 2Game on his own. The player even informed his teammates about the decision after a training session held that same day, and then immediately deleted all mentions of the organization on his social media profiles.
Faced with zap's own request, 2Game understood that it was an irreversible situation due to wear and tear on the rest of the team and accepted his decision on Thursday, March 27. There was only some paperwork left for the organization before they got set and ready to announce his departure, as happened this Friday, March 28.
Blurred lines
That's when zap made two publications on March 27 through his social media channels. In them, the player confirmed that he was indeed leaving 2Game, but that this decision had actually come from the organization.
In the first post, zap revealed that he was called “for a conversation with the coaches” and that he ended up “disrespecting” them. Remorsefully, the player said he “took hot-headed actions,” but has already apologized to those involved.
Afterwards, zap explained that he made himself available to “train and play in the best possible way.” However, according to zap, 2Game decided that he wouldn’t return to the team.
In another post made minutes after the first, zap denied that the decision to leave 2Game was his and said that “he was removed from the team because he wasn’t the best player for them [2Game] at the moment”.
Upholding the truth?
At the time of writing, 2Game decided to officially talk about the zap situation. In a statement released on social media, the organization didn’t confirm THESPIKE Brasil's information that the player decided to leave the team, but spoke of an “unsustainable situation” in the face of “growing disagreements regarding positions and paths.”
▶ 2Game's official position on the matter:
“2Game announces that Brenno "Zap" Roberto will no longer be part of our main VALORANT lineup. Due to ongoing and escalating disagreements, the current situation became unsustainable. 2Game deeply appreciates Zap's significant contributions, including playing a key role in winning the Ascension title and helping secure our place in VCT Americas. We remain dedicated to achieving our season goals and will provide updates about the team's future soon. Thank you for your continued support”.
The truth
Given the positions taken by both sides, THESPIKE Brasil maintains that it was zap who chose to leave 2Game, and not 2Game that decided to remove him. It was the player who informed the players and coaching staff that he would “no longer play” for the team. His announcement surprised the organization.
2Game chose not to expose the situation involving zap on social media and opted for a more “careful” position. It’s worth mentioning that the player was captain of 2Game and participated in three games for the team this season, with three defeats.
